I just went to Coffee Off the Square in Athens, Alabama. I had an amazing experience. I ordered a cookie butter latte. It was so good! I also ordered avocado toast with blueberries and strawberries on the side. The owner came over to me and told me that the avocados they had inside were not in good shape. He asked me if I had time to wait around for a few minutes and I told him that I did. He told me that he had a restaurant, a few minutes away, and would quickly come back with better avocados. I happily sipped on my latte and played a game on my phone, while he was away. He was back within 10 minutes with beautiful avocados in his hands. I had fresh avocado toast shortly after he came back. The avocado toast is definitely one of my favorites I’ve had in a while. If I end up back in the area, I’m definitely going back. Also, the owner happens to own Elizabeth’s Cocina Mexicana, which is located in downtown Athens as well. I also appreciate not feeling rushed to eat my food. I received amazing customer service. The only thing that I noticed that I possibly won’t request again, was that the blueberries were huge, but tart. It’s not like someone can predict the taste of a blueberry.

The coziest little coffee shop in town! 10/10!
Prices are very reasonable and the Açaí & CookieButter lattes were phenomenal. I recommend ordering ahead online unless you have time to kick back and wait.

I loved Coffee Off The Square and it was so affordable compared to other coffee shop options.

The mocha and horchada we had was great. Not a rushed atmosphere by any means, which was refreshing to just sit and enjoy the ambiance.

My only suggestion would be more seating, but the spot we ended up on in the end was great. Looking forward to more options to come!

My new favorite coffee shop hands down! There’s plenty of comfortable space to get work done, the coffee is high quality but actually reasonably priced, and the people that work there are kind and knowledgeable. They really think about the details, from knowing how to pull the best quality shot to having a full baby changing station in the ladies room. The location also couldn’t be better. It’s right “off the square”, so there’s a full parking lot, but I can also walk with my little one out the door and around the square for some fun shopping.

I came on over from Huntsville AL to support one of the co-owners! Great coffee place and location! I like the industrial interior design mixed with highrise college dorm vibe with some wall art to give a modern touch! I tried Matcha for the first time here and it was delicious. I also tried a Strawberry Jam Crepe, again delicious. I’d come here again and recommend this place to those who want a great cup of coffee or tea or pastry!

Buzzed by here to get a drink before heading out of Athens. I really liked this place!

I think the location might’ve previously been a bit more on the square, but I could be wrong…as it is, it’s still easy walking distance from the square but tucked away a little bit. There’s a private parking lot it shares with a few other businesses, though I had already parked on the street before coming by. Signage is a little discreet but they have some flags advertising acai bowls.

The inside is beautiful and nicely decorated — modern, clean, has a bigger city vibe to it honestly. Walk around the corner to find the bar where you can order your drink.

Service was exceptional. I was greeted warmly by a younger man with dark hair. I took a while looking at the menu (indecisive) and he politely told me that they were recently under new ownership and if I didn’t see what I wanted on the menu he’d be happy to try and accommodate me. I saw they had a peppermint mocha which I love in all seasons and I asked how minty it was. He said he’d gladly tone the mint down for me and so I agreed to order that. He made nice small talk and brought my drink out to where I was sitting to wait. It was a simple interaction, but he made me feel very welcome and at ease and I really appreciate it! I checked out their social media later and saw a picture of him that had just been posted announcing the new ownership — I wonder if he’s one of the new owners? Either way, he was excellent.

My drink was also pretty solid. I was missing a tiny bit of mocha/chocolate flavor but the coffee itself was smooth and creamy and the peppermint had been toned down to an ideal level for me.

Overall, very well done! I don’t live in Athens but this place will be high on my list to return to when I’m in the area next.

Amazing Coffee, But I Wish They Were Open on Weekends!

I absolutely love this coffee shop! The coffee is top-notch—smooth, rich, and always made to perfection. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to grab a cup and unwind. The staff is friendly and always provides excellent service.

The only downside? They’re not open on weekends, which is a real bummer! I’d love to stop by for my weekend coffee fix, but unfortunately, I have to wait until the weekdays.

Still, if you’re looking for a great coffee spot, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend!

I recently moved to Huntsville, but work in Athens. Pretty big coffee person so was curious what the coffee would be like in the area(s). And this is my favorite coffee place in Huntsville/Athens out of all the ones I’ve tried! The roast of the coffee is just the best tasting and most flavorful out of all the other places. Hands down. On top of their roast just being superior, the specialty/seasonal drinks they have are also delicious. Definitely swing by and try them if you’re in the area! My go to order is an iced shaken expresso with bananas syrup (trust me) and caramel sauce plus an extra shot sometimes two.

Great spot! Large room with plenty of seating so you can spread out from other guests. Menu is pretty standard for such places, but very good coffee served in large cups!
