The tiramisu was amazing and the mango sorbet was also very good. The wait staff was also very nice and very accommodating and is one of the few reasons I would come back.
What I did not appreciate was that the menu didn’t completely tell you everything that was included in the meal. For example, the chocolate cake lists a bunch of ingredients that are included but fails to mention that it is topped with a cherry/sauce. I had to have it sent back since I cannot have cherries.
The music was also a little too loud and I was not able to tell what type of mood they were going for with their music selection. I also feel that for 300$
The least the restaurant can do is change out the silverware for each course, since it was a 3 course meal and remove all plates when it’s time for the next course.
Overall I didn’t feel it was worth the price. I recommend not going when they are having a special event menu where you will be paying 120+ person automatically.
It took about 10 minutes for us to get some water once we were seated. We were able to switch tables after, which was nice. The focaccia bread they gave us as a starter was very salty, and the oil they provided was mildly bitter.
From the restaurant week menu, we ordered shrimp scampi, orecchiette, pork tenderloin, and NY strip steak. While the orecchiette was great, the shrimp scampi was so rubbery and had an off putting taste to it. The pork tenderloin was alright, fairly dry. Given we paid $10 extra for the NY strip, it was not cooked as we had requested, and the middle of the steak was so raw we could not finish eating it. Dessert was fairly mediocre, the tiramisu tasted like espresso and my ricotta cake was basically bread and ice cream.
The ambiance was great, which makes me want to return to try their regular menu. However, for restaurant week, we did not enjoy our experience.
The prix fixe menu felt incredibly steep for three small courses. Especially compared to the fine dining options in Philly. The pear salad was good with a nicely balanced dressing. However, the other dishes were quite small-eggplant ravioli, 5–6 pieces of mediocre lobster ravioli, and the braciola was just okay. Dessert was the driest ricotta cake ever when it’s supposed to be moist. Fortunately we got a chuckle throughout the meal as we couldn’t believe we’d been ripped off – at this price point to have such an underwhelming meal. Earlier that week we’d eaten at Mawn – fed 6 people for the same price of 2 now and had WAY more food and dish creativity.
Afterward, I noticed several reviews describing similar experiences on their 3 course menus, which was disappointing to see.
That said, the wine selection was excellent and the service felt sincere and attentive. If you go, perhaps go just for the wine.
The antipasto and bruschetta were the perfect start, and the food just kept getting better. Everyone loved their meals — from the gnocchi and scallops to the NY steak. The cocktails and wine were top-notch too. One of our guests said it was “the best Manhattan I’ve ever had,” and we all agreed it was amazing.
Great food, great drinks, great service — we’ll definitely be back!
I cannot give enough praise to Angela. She went far and beyond for us. She made sure that my husband’s birthday was a memorable one. From the complimentary champagne, the excellent service, the delicious food, and let us not forget beautiful ambiance and conversation with her. The service was impressive. To top off the night a complimentary shot of limoncello, along with a Happy birthday wish.
Could not have asked for a better night.
Thanks again, Angela and the staff at Panorama. Excellent!
