The Greek taverna in Montclair is an absolute gem.I went with a group after a graduation and they seated a large group of us, from the moment the warm pita bread arrived at the table, it was clear this place takes pride in doing the basics exceptionally well the pita is beyond amazing, soft, fresh, and honestly unforgettable. The rest of the meal followed suit , flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and refreshingly healthy without sacrificing taste. Every dish felt balanced and authentic, making it easy to enjoy a satisfying meal that still feels light and nourishing. The quality of the food paired with the welcoming taverna atmosphere makes this a standout spot in Montclair. Easily a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Especially because those pita bread was so amazing.

My family and I dined in at Greek Taverna this weekend and had such a wonderful experience!
First, the food was delicious and flavorful as always — I dream about their grilled haloumi and eggplant spread (melitzanosalata).
The team at Greek Taverna is also consistently trying new dishes and “twists” to existing recipes to spice up the menu, which makes it fun to see what they have changed!
Last but not least, the service is phenomenal. The team just opened up a new party room for guests, which is perfect for more intimate family gatherings, birthdays, showers, etc.
We are looking forward to going back again soon!

We walked in on a busy Saturday night without a reservation and they were kind enough to find a table. Our service was nothing short of perfect. Waters always full and a delightful attentive wait person.
Very affordable for such generous portions! Definitely get the hummus, it was fresh and so good. Would definitely return! 5 stars!

Greek Taverna Montclair made the surprise birthday party I hosted an OUTSTANDING event. They went out of their way to fulfill every request I made to make it a success.
The private dining room is simply but beautifully decorated, and easily accommodated our party of ~24. Service was very attentive, food was very good, portions generous, and they didn’t rush the party at all. They also do not “nickel and dime” on everything: no minimum “spend” to use the private room, no additional charge on our drink refills, no cake-cutting fee, etc. Despite the party size, they allowed us to order a la carte, and somehow delivered everyone’s order without a flaw. And they have their own parking lot! (Since it was a surprise party, many of us “hid” our cars in the convenient large pay-parking lot across the street.) Quite pleased with how Greek Taverna took care of us, and would use this venue again without hesitation.

Really nice looking restaurant with tasty food but the service was very slow. We were seated right away but the waitress was busy talking to her co workers for 15-20 minutes before we were asked if we were ready to order. They definitely attempted to make up for the delay by bringing us a basket of really excellent grilled pita along with a sampling of dips. The seafood was all cooked perfectly and came out tender and delectable.

Server was not attentive to our needs at all. Forgetting parts of the order, not checking to see how things were, didn’t want to check if we wanted anything before our last guest joined us. Then it took so long to get any service. The food was very mediocre. Not planning a return trip here. They also had a wedding reception in a tiny room that was very loud and we waited almost ten minutes because they were taking pictures.

I love each desert individually, so it must be good. 1st bite was good, creamy, soft, and not too sweet. 2nd bite, hum little salty… 3rd bite was ok, and then everyone started to say, is it a bit salty to you? And I was like , yes, wth?! The cream cheese was well mixed in that it had a wonderfully creamy texture. But I think they mixed up the salt for the sugar??? Because it was really salty. I know cream cheese is salty, but this was extra salt… great idea poorly executed.

We had my in-laws wedding anniversary lunch at Greek Taverna Montclair in December 2023. I highly recommend this place. The staff were amazing, delicious food, great ambiance, and hospitable staff especially Nick, Ana and Carlos. They all went above and beyond. We had kids and we had seniors in our party. It has its own parking lot and no steps, a plus for mobility issues!

Ordered lunch for take out and everything came out perfect. My order only took about 15min to make and it was 100% correct. The packaging was durable which is always appreciated. My Horiatiki salad with chicken was fresh and tasty. My husband ordered the gyro platter and thought it was very tasty as well. Will definitely eat here again!
