I don’t have video proof of the pool table, record player, or funky 80s vibes, but I do have video proof of the SENSATIONAL square slice I had at @pauliegeessoulcityslice in Wash West
I had some time to kill before I hit the highway last week, so I stopped in for an early dinner + some work. This simple slice shop is cooking some delish pies (vegan options available) and serving cold sodas and craft beers! I got the Sicilian slice, which was cooked upside down with fattttt slices of mozz on the bottom, sauce on the top, and a sesame-seeded dough. I also got a traditional slice with crispy sausage cups. If I had to go back, I would just order the Sicilian slices. They were top notch.
Whether you’re looking for an inexpensive dinner, a casual hang, or a no-frills date spot, go here

I really loved this place! Affordable prices for outstanding pizza. It seemed like a cool place to hangout. I was visiting from the west coast, so I was there alone. But if I lived in the area or was visiting with friends, it would be a cool place to hangout late night and grab some pizza and drinks. I will say one critique is I noticed a fly in the glass case where the pizzas are kept but Im still giving this place 5 stars, it was really good service and really good food for good prices. Will definitely come back if Im back in the area.

One of the top pizzas in Philadelphia. Everything is cooked perfectly in the oven. My favorite is absolutely the square focaccia pie with honey crusted pepperoni. I don’t think I’ve found an equivalent yet in Philly. Even my Italian friend agrees this is the best pizza place in the city.
We ate at the bar. Bartender was very attentive to us. There’s also arcade games and billiard available. Will come back again!

Delicious pizza, great vibes, friendly service. Great place to grab a slice and a beer on the way home after an early night out. Big fan of the hot honey + sesame crust on the Hellboy2. Drinks are great, rotating taps. Retro vibe and chill crowd.

The real Michelin stars!!! We returned to PG’s a couple weeks after posting the (original 3-star) review about the take-out slices in the photo. The owner reached out and wanted to make it right…but we insisted on remaining anonymous and just wanted PG’s to make sure they were making it right day-in-day-out. On that next visit we again ordered two take out Freddie Prinz slices and they were magnificent. We take them home and later re-heat them until they get a little burnt on top. Those slices, along with the chicken wings at Koreana, are two of the great flavor experiences in Philly. Thick, cheesy, saucy, chewy, crispy-burnt…they can send you into that special blissed-out zone. Good work PG.

Not up to the usual standard. Paulie Gee’s has been our ‘go to’ pizza place since we moved (back) to Philly a few years ago. The regular pie is great, but the Freddie Prinz has always been a stand-out. A big…thick…saucy…cheesy delight. Unfortunately today we got a couple slices for take-out and got an unpleasant surprise when we got home and opened the box. The slices were about 20-25% smaller and a lot thinner (not sure if that shows up in the attached photo). It’s just always disappointing when a really good place is consistent…but then inconsistent. Please don’t let this happen and get back on track…we need to know PG’s will be there when we need them! Thanks.

Great place for slices and a beverage.
There is an ancient Atari game system with a vintage console TV. A box with LP’s for sale.
A great dive bar – and I mean that in the most Complimentary way possible. The food was terrific

NY Slice style was delicious. Great pizza especially for being a late night spot. The vibe is amazing and very unique. Highly recommend for people looking for a good slice!

Every single slice was delicious. The place is absolutely slammed on the weekends. Literally a lineup out the door to get slices. During the week it’s a lot more manageable and the quality is still just as good but the service is more attentive. It’s wonderful and what you would expect For a place that sells New York style. The ovens are set to 625. They quickly double bake your slice when you order it so it has a crispy bottom still the floppy tip that you expect as well as being foldable. I prefer Sicilian squares and this does not miss. The Enzo pepperoni is naturally used here.

Retro shop serving pizza by the slice! Paulie Gee’s has now been added to some of my favorite pizza in Philly.
I stopped in on a whim and got the Freddy Pepperoni slice. Oh my gosh was it amazing. The sesame crust was so unique, and every ingredient was high quality and fresh. Pepperoni cups added the perfect salty balance to the sauce.
I love the vibe in there – laidback, retro, pool tables, etc. The guy who took my order was also so nice. I will definitely be coming back for more pizza in the future!

This is our first time reviewing a vegan pizza and we always strive to provide an honest review of every aspect of each business. Let me start by saying that Paulie G’s is a really awesome place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, giving off a cool retro vibe. As soon as you walk in, you’ll notice an old school vending machine by the counter, giving it a 50s or 60s feel. To the right, there’s a cozy lounge area with an Atari 2600 gaming system and games to choose from – perfect for some nostalgic fun. The seating and old tube TV add to the overall charm of the place. I could totally see myself hanging out here, just reminiscing. There’s also a bar area that has a nice vibe to it.
We decided to go for four slices of pizza – sausage, plain, Vidalia onion, and pepperoni. The pepperoni was definitely a standout for us – it’s something I would come back for if I’m in the area. The crust is excellent, thin, crispy, and delicious, with generous amounts of cheese and tasty pepperonis. The Vidalia onion pizza, on the other hand, seemed a bit lacking in cheese, but the crust and sauce were good – a few basil sprigs could’ve elevated the flavor. The sausage pizza didn’t quite hit the mark for us as it lacked the real sausage flavor and the cheese was hard to find. The crust was good, but there was a shortage of sauce, making it feel a bit dry.
The cheese pizza was solid, just what you’d expect from a classic cheese pizza. The service was great, with the staff behind the counter being very friendly. It’s a really cool spot overall. If I’m in the area, I would definitely swing by for the pepperoni. However, I wouldn’t make a special trip across the city just for it.
