The wait time after food ordering is absolutely horrible. I never ever wait almost two hours for our dinner. Non of good restaurants will let you wait that long. Our steaks was good and we had medium as we wanted. Wings for take out wasn’t that good and we’re bloody inside. So because of the wait time and the wings I know for sure we will not come back. I would rather to go to Florence or another restaurants farther than waiting that long. It’s not worth it !

First off, don’t believe it when you call and they say you don’t need a reservation. If you don’t have one, you might as well eat before you go there. Second of all, when they told us we would be seated in 25-30 minutes, it was more like 50 minutes. When we finally ordered, we got an appetizer which was good, but didn’t receive our utensils for at least 10 more minutes, which our own server didn’t even bring us, but another one that saw us struggling did for her. Our food was taking more than a good 50 minutes, so we asked for our check and left. The manager right before we left cme over and told us they had a big party that they were taking care of and that’s why it was taking so long. Not a great first impression, unfortunately the last….

We wanted to support a local small business, but this experience was extremely disappointing.
This was a birthday dinner that had been reserved several days in advance. When we arrived at 7:00 p.m., we were seated under an outdoor tent with three tables, one of which was occupied by a group not associated with our party. We were told they would be served promptly so the table could be freed up.
Once the rest of our party arrived around 7:30, it became clear there were not enough tables or chairs. Two guests were left sitting on a bench. No one made any effort to bring extra chairs or accommodate the reservation. The unrelated table ended up waiting just as long as we did.
Service was extremely poor. We waited over 30 minutes just to place drink orders, and our table was skipped entirely. We had no silverware, plates, or bread, and no one checked on us or refilled drinks. I had to go inside the restaurant to flag someone down just to get basic service. Even then, refills were brought only to some of the tables.
We did not have a consistent server, but that does not explain why our table sat visibly empty while staff walked past it. When our food finally arrived nearly two hours after ordering, it was dropped off without asking if we needed anything else. I had to borrow silverware from another table to eat my salad. The fried sushi was cold, the croissants were overcooked, and by the time anyone asked if we needed anything, my wife was almost finished eating.
No one apologized or acknowledged the situation until we started complaining. To make matters worse, we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity for this level of service. It felt like because the tip was guaranteed, our table was put on the back burner.
It was also far too cold to be seated outside with only one heater. The two guests from our party sitting on the bench ended up leaving after an hour and a half without ordering. Overall, a reserved birthday dinner turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience.

Shug’s had a rough night tonight. I’m not sure what the issue was, but we were told by our exasperated server that there were several parties that created the hold up. We waited for an hour and change to be seated. Our server greeted us promptly and delivered our drinks quickly. I could tell there was a panic in his step, so we quickly ordered sushi for the appetizer. The cowboy roll was top tier. We ordered our entrees as soon as the app was delivered. And then we waited… for over two hours. At some point I realized the only employees we were seeing were the bus boys, but there was nothing for them to pick up because there was nothing being delivered. Tables around us were as restless as we were. At the 2 hour mark, 2 parties got up and left. A few minutes later, a server arrives at the empty tables with food, bless her, she was fighting back tears. Moments later our server appears and assures us that our food is being plated as we speak. He apologized for the wait, we told him we knew it wasn’t his fault. Our food made it to the table a few minutes later like a class project thrown together the night before it was due. We just stared at the globs of food on our plates, wondering if this is really what we were waiting for. The steaks were charred like the grill hadn’t been cleaned all night. There were 4 pieces of broccoli. The scalloped potatoes seemed more like lukewarm potato salad. We paid our tab, made our exit and wished those left behind the best of luck.

Best steak I’ve eaten in a very long time! Worth the hour drive! If I can’t grill it, I’ll drive to Shug’s to get it! Egg rolls was amazing!!!

My family of 6 had what should’ve been a nice dinner here. The food was good, but that’s the only positive. Despite ordering straightforward menu items with no special requests, we waited over an hour after being seated for our meals to arrive. The waiter refilled drinks but never once acknowledged the delay, apologized, or explained what was holding things up. Tables seated after us finished and left before we even got our food. One sushi order came several minutes after the rest of the meals—again, no heads-up from the waiter. When the bill came, we added a generous tip, unaware that a 20% gratuity had already been automatically added for parties of 6+. The waiter never mentioned it. I called the manager two days later, explained the double-tipping, and simply asked for a refund of my tip (not the auto-gratuity). He said to text him my mailing address and he’d mail a check. A week later—nothing. No call, no email, no refund. I had to dispute the extra tip with Visa. Not an honorable way to treat customers. Shugg’s management clearly doesn’t value transparency or follow-through.

I went to Shug’s Thursday evening 5/22. I was with a party of about 7 other people and we made reservations in advance. I ordered soup, salad, and a side of the lobster Mac and cheese. Our server was very nice (Hunter) and did a good job keeping our drinks filled up and our table cleaned.
I had very high hopes for the dinner – I had never been there before and I don’t get the opportunity to dine out much anymore – lots of kids and no steady babysitters.
The honey butter croissants were great, albeit messy. No plates or additional napkins were provided- the honey butter was also a bit drippy(delicious too). My daughter had to go to the bathroom just to wash her hands again, before the meal. There were drippy sticky bits on the table and napkins before we even got our food.
Then we waited QUITE a while for our food. I have 20 years food service background – I know restaurants get busy, but it was a very long wait. Most of our table ordered soup and salad. One lady had a brisket platter, and my daughter and her friend had a basic burger and chicken tenders type meal. It really shouldn’t have taken as long as it did. We were all so hungry when our meal finally started coming out.
The salads came out first. I was disappointed the salad and the bowl weren’t chilled at all. The bleu cheese dressing was mediocre at best- barely detectable bleu cheese in it. But the most disappointing thing was the “blackened” shrimp. They were seasoned fine and not overcooked, also not blackened. 🙁 I have included a picture. 5/10
The lobster Mac and cheese was good – not as rich as I was hoping for, and it was LOADED with bacon pieces – which I enjoy, but it made finding and enjoying the few pieces of lobster a little more challenging. 6/10
The French onion soup was great. I would have liked the bread to have been all one type – it was cubed pieces of random breads – some were chewy like stale sourdough even after soaking in broth, and some were soggy and super soft- so you never knew what kind of bread you were gonna get in the bite. The cheese and the broth were great and the onions were nice and soft. The onions were all different sizes – some chunky and some thin. Some cooked long and deep, some barely cooked. I would have liked that to be more consistent also. I know how much work French onion soup is – but it’s time to invest in a mandolin so you can have consistent pieces….. 8/10
My daughter’s chicken tenders were well made and juicy and a good portion for the price. The fries were also good. 9/10
Overall, a good meal. I don’t know that I’d jump at the opportunity to return, but I wouldn’t say never again either.

Absolutely amazing meal. Me and my wife went here for our anniversary at the recommendation of a neighbor, and it not only lived up to expectations, but exceeded them. Staff were fantastic, friendly and proactive, food arrived at a prompt time and was utterly delicious. Their mozzarella wedges were a treat.

The food and atmosphere were great. We sat on the patio. The service was ok. Multiple food items were mixed up but I think that was due to lack of writing down the order. Definitely will be back.
