The Hickory is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I went to The Hickory for dinner with my family and it was an incredible experience! I love how it is at a farm; it is very cozy and warm! My server, Leah was absolutely amazing! She was so kind and patient! I ordered a mocktail called “round the bend” and it was so delicious with a very nice cinnamon kick. Our table ordered the hearth roasted carrots, smoked trout dip, Roma wedge, and herb focaccia with melted leek butter and all were amazing! I especially loved the carrots. Then our table ordered one gnocchi large plate to share and it was so delicious and flavorful! Lastly, our table ordered a French silk pie with vanilla chantilly, cocoa filling, and potato chips and surprisingly the potato chips added a very nice contrast with the creamy pie making it all perfectly come together to make a delicious dessert. I would absolutely recommend coming to The Hickory and a huge shout out to Leah!

Went and had dinner here and I wish I had done this sooner! Very warm and inviting restaurant that was nicely decorated for Christmas. Started with the whipped SPAM, yes that kind of SPAM, and it was absolutely delicious! The hot sauce and pickles really made this dish stand out. The cornbread with sorghum butter was cooked perfectly with a nice crust and fluffy inside. My main dish was the pork and grits and this pork tenderloin was very tender and juicy and seasoned very well. It paired well with the grits and red cabbage. To drink I had their spin on an old fashioned called By the Fire. Amazing blend of bourbon and vermouth and served smoked. The apple stack cake for dessert was moist and just the right amount after the meal to satisfy a sweet tooth. Service was fantastic and attentive and friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

THE place to go for a relaxing luxurious breakfast experience. From the server to the ambience to the food. We were so impressed. No one makes breakfast potatoes like this! And the eggs were absolute perfection. Their jam was divine. And excellent coffee. We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful memorable morning.

Shared a wonderful leisurely late Saturday morning breakfast here with my son. The vegetable omelette was delightful- terrific nuance of flavor and lovely presentation, and the side of potatoes were crispy perfection! My son had the French toast which was also delightful! Great cappuccino- smooth and bold. I had been here for several superb dinner experiences but this was the first time trying breakfast, and I’m so glad we did!

I can’t say anything bad about this dining experience. The service and food was fabulous. It’s up there on the top of our list of all best! Started off with chilled beet salad, oysters, foccia bread, main dish steak, and Trout for my wife! Ended it with a vanilla latte and pavlova for dessert!

Had a delicious meal and cocktails at Hickory. Lots of open flame cooking, beautiful sauces and local ingredients. Great fine dining tucked away in a beautiful little valley. Go at sunset if you can ❤️

I have never been more disappointed in my life. My friend and I planned a trip here to celebrate both of our birthdays. We had seen rave reviews on Google as well as seeing it on TV. We even went as far as picking out what we wanted the day before so we would know and be ready. We get there and it is completely empty and desolate, no signs indicating where you should go. As we approach, we soon realized we had made a terrible mistake. It was a buffet service only and they didn’t even offer anything on their published breakfast menu. It was too late for us to leave at this point as we didn’t know any better. We had reservations and everything.
The food was, at best, mediocre. I would rather have had Cracker Barrel to be honest. It was biscuits, gravy, meats, hash brown casserole, and fruit. All just sitting there, drying up, and becoming congealed. The only thing cooked were the eggs. There was food bits everywhere and it looked like it had been sitting there for a nondescript amount of time. A far cry from their menu online. And I’ve not even told you the price…$27!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The folks staying there at the hotel got a free meal voucher and that is the only acceptable price to pay for this.
I implore you to ask what type of service it is before you are seated as they don’t notify you when you arrive.
The farm itself is beautiful and worth a stop. However, run as fast as you can from the buffet. The mimosas were good despite everything else being a letdown.
The biggest disappointment ever.

Elegant…upscale Southern Food in an amazing setting. Lucky to have a James Beard nominated Chef in our backyard. The kitchen staff is top notch, servers are great, and the pastry chef is on another level. Love everything on the menu. Southern fine dining with an amazing tribute to Appalachian cuisine. A true gift to this Region.

Such a breathtaking property. Simply classy in a secluded setting. This is not the place for a picky, selective dining guest. The menu items are extremely unusual – although delicious.

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Nicewonder. We checked in on Thanksgiving and had reservations at Hickory for dinner. They served an unforgettable traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I should have taken a picture of all the food when it came out. There were numerous options and everything was delicious. The ambiance in the Hickory is so cozy and the service that evening was fantastic. We plan on staying at the Nicewonder again in the future and look forward to another dinner at Hickory. Highly recommend.
