Took my son for fish and chips and got the scotch eggs and fried Brie appetizers. The appetizers blew us away and the fish and chips were good too. Would definitely recommend.

Maggies is a decent experience. Our table had mixed reviews with some food and drink being good, not amazing, and some not so much. The Danish Fried Brie was the star for sure. For the price I can find better Irish pub food in the area. The service was great and the atmosphere was equally good. Would go back at someones request but probably not by choice.

Five stars aren’t enough! Maggie’s Irish Pub and Eatery in Ankeny delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Every bite of food was absolutely fantastic—piping hot, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The standout of the night? The blackberry crisp for dessert. It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet, with a buttery, golden topping that melted in my mouth. I would come back just for that. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and eat at Maggie’s. You won’t regret it!

Every bite delicious! CJ provided fantastic table service, kept our party going with tasty appetizers, savory main dishes, and complete with an incredible desert. The night we were there they had a musician belting beautiful music as well. Check out this lovely spot and be sure to stroll the chill street scene too.

Hello ,
I arrived here today for a DoorDash ordered , was never greeted at the door was at least 6mins before I was greeted , had already seated myself . Order was supposed to be ready within 5mins according to DoorDash . I was told be server it will be a while . I said okay waited a total of 32 mins for two sandwhiches and a salad , also had other customers waiting on single meal orders 30+ mins plus customers coming in not greeted or seated . So I approach the kitchen door to ask how much longer , manager comes out doors asking what’s the name of order , says he’s bagging it but clearly wasn’t . When he comes back I ask him if he was manager , he replies yes I explain how I had been waiting 30 plus minutes and he rudely cut me off said there was a fire in the kitchen and he was too busy trynna save the building but here’s your order , I told him this is a customers order and that’s unacceptable , I watch the server serve a table of twelve people , two plates at a time at that mind you, there were multiple other customers in restaurant at least 4 other who never received service . Seems like the waiter was more interest in the tip then other orders unprofessional . Should be the same level of professionalism given to every order. If your on time frame this not the place to go . I would not recommend .

Mixed feelings on this one.

Food – great. 5 stars
Atmosphere and service – pretty good, arguably 5 stars.

Pricing – 2 stars.
The meals on the menu were priced and in line with what’d I’d expect, most meals in the $16-18 range. The drinks were unpriced. I had two Irish beers (a Killian and a Guinness). I guessed they’d be ~$8 each, which should have put my average meal in the zone of $16+8+8, so about $32, plus a tax, and maybe a little more on the drinks, so $40ish on the high end.

At the end of the meal, the waitress came to our group of five with an electronic card reader, asked us what we ordered, then read us each a price to pay. It was awkward, both because there was no itemized bill to ensure correctness, and my bill was nearly $60. Due to the social pressures of the group, I handed my card over to pay, even though I was surprised by the price.
The server then handed me the card reader machine, to pick between 0%,3%,5%, or 7% tip.
I normally tip at 20%, so the options were odd to me. My instinctive thought was that they might pay their servers a living wage, so tipping was unnecessary. Even so, I opted for the 7% tip, and would have done 20% of it was an option.

After leaving, I found out from an acquaintance of a server that they had added a 20% gratuity.

Why do they get 2 stars on pricing? Seemingly intentional price hiding. I ended up paying 7% tip on top of a bill that had a 20% tip built in, so ~30% tip without knowing it.

Great food, nice people. I do not plan to dine there again.

I’ve been to Maggie’s a few times. My first time in was with family at a table and the waitress was nice. Their Shepards pie is a bit of a mystery to me though. The potato is bland with carrots and corn in the sauce for vegetables. Their beef is extremely salty to make up for the potato. The last time I had it, my piece of bread was small(half the normal small loaf), and I feel it could do with a bit of salt. Especially since their butter is not salted. I also had their salmon burger with a small piece of bacon that was very tasty. The sauce with tater tots is nice as well. They have a nice selection of drinks, and I did enjoy the guava cider. Their bartenders tend to keep to their regulars and forgot to provide me a napkin. The man with a nice mustache helped the bartender figure out which seat I was in to ring up my check and was much more pleasant to interact with. This place could do much better with more active management.

I walked in and was quite surprised. This place looks amazing. I ordered an Irish kiss and a shepherd pie. The drink is divine, and the pie is cry worthy. First time having a shepherd pie, and oh wow highly recommend it. The waitress was very kind as well. GUYS ya gotta be here!

One of my favorite spots to go in the area. Only thing I’d change is bringing the Full Irish back to the regular menu. Truly one of my favorites to eat. Great fish and chips and an excellent selection of beverages.
