Cavalletta Restaurant was amazing. The Caesar salad was so fresh and tasty the homemade croutons really stood out. The Margherita pizza was simple, but full of flavor and perfectly done. Everything we had was delicious. Great service and a warm, welcoming vibe. We’ll definitely be back!

We enjoyed a great family meal this evening with great service. Waiting for our table, our grandson watched the hot fire pizza oven and the chef cook with some flaming dishes.
We ordered a Marguerite pizza and charcuterie pizza. The gluten free pasta with asparagus was superb. I chose a salad with great greens and substituted grated Parmesan for the buratta.
Great meal with red wine
Accessible entry. Menus are thick white card stock with black letters and readable.
Accessiblee red restrooms
Credible parking is in free front lot.

Service, food, atmosphere. It’s gonna cost a bit but, when all is right in the world, price reflects quality.. Recomended to me by some heavy hitter who started early and retired from Zoom. I’d name drop but I forgot his name. Met him swimming in the sea with trunks only as I like to do. A poor man’s cold plunge. So, Amazing Caesar, a little heavy on the dressing but was told by a local that other times it was more balanced. My pasta was amazing, house made i belive and the beef in it was perfect with a very good tomato sauce. The server helped me pick a beautiful Italian red that we decided was quite neutral and not heavy or extreme in any way. It was silky and paired amazingly. I wish I could have stayed longer and eaten more.

Had a very notable risotto with chunks of shrimp and sea scallops topped with crispy onions. The risotto was very creamy and the sea scallops were seared and not extremely large so not to overpower the rice and shrimp. Well prepared and a good portion size leaving me satisfied with room for desert!

Solid and straight forward. From the outside it looks smaller but once inside it is more spacious and includes an outside patio. We had the roasted cauliflower, pizza, bolognese and halibut. All good.

Had the pleasure of eating here beginning of April. Vibe is similar to tussles, their first and very very good restaurant. Airy, modern vibe, quite loud.

I am going to focus on the pizza. For context, the gold standard for pizza for me in the bay area would be Del Popolo and Delfina in San Francisco, Oak and Rye in Los Gatos, Mentone on the cusp.

In contrast to those establishments, I would characterize this crust as being lighter and having a little less chew. But otherwise pretty perfect.

We had the margherita, and I am going to have to gripe about that. Their version (and that’s part of the problem is that there are not versions of a pizza that is described as being a margherita) utilizes what appears to be burrata instead of mozzarella di bufala, added dollops of pesto, and also a sprinkling of Parmesan. Why not, not reasonably tasty, it’s suitably alters what you expect to be getting and in the end at least in my opinion does not come together with that unique perfection that a pizza margherita does. In other words, had we read the fine print this would not have been a pizza we would’ve ordered.

That being said, the crust is lightly brushed with olive oil, and between that and the unnecessary Parmesan that is added was quite tasty.

I’ve seen the other pizzas and they do look quite good so I will definitely be coming back.

Service was quite friendly, and the cauliflower appetizer we had was pretty good as well.

We will go back again to try some other items on the menu because the service was excellent and the atmosphere was delightful, however, I must say that the mushroom pizza is difficult to eat. Way too heavy on the mushrooms, literally an inch layer of mushrooms. My pizza had a long, chewy, mushroom stem in there that you couldn’t even eat unless you swallowed it whole. It kinda ruined the vibe for me. Also, if you order additional olives, you will get green olives which are a little too briny for my taste. I was expecting black olives. The wood fired crust was ok but not the star of the show and nothing in comparison to other wood fired pizza places like Lou Eddies in Lake Arrowhead, Ca. Three days later and I still taste mushrooms, so be careful.

Oh my, that was a good pizza! Didn’t know about this place until they showed up on the Santa Cruz Pizza Week list. Meatball Pizza was their special pizza for the week. Excellent crust with meatball and pepperoni toppings. Lightly sauced and cheesed. Very nice. We will be going back.

The food was excellent. I love calamari and most places over cook it but this was perfect! We split three dishes and they were all wonderful. A hidden gem!
