Local rip-off with zero accountability. Counter sign boldly claims ‘3% charge on non-cash transactions, which is not greater than our cost’—so I paid expecting that. Receipt? 3.5% ‘Service Charge (3.50x)’—50 cents extra slipped in. Pointed it out politely; staff shrugged, ‘Owner’s issue, just a few cents,’ then sneered, ‘Go write your Yelp review, we don’t care.’
This isn’t rounding; it’s bait-and-switch false advertising, likely illegal under NJ surcharge disclosure laws requiring exact percentages upfront. Shocking rudeness from a neighborhood business.
I was charged for someone else’s order and then charged again for my own. It’s now weeks later and I still have not received a refund. I’ve gone in person to follow up and left my phone number, but I’m continually told that the person responsible for refunds will call me back. So far, that hasn’t happened.
Before the billing issue, there were already problems with this order. My order was taken over the phone and made incorrectly, which I understand can happen, but it resulted in an additional 15 minute wait while I was on a time crunch. Even though they had my phone number, no one contacted me when they realized there was a mistake the first time. I had to drive back to the restaurant to find out what happened, and that’s when the double charge occurred. They knew it was a problem too, because when I walked in they immediately had me move to the front of the line to explain what had happened. They assured me the refund was in place and I believed them. I even waited a week before going in just in case their system was the reason why it was slow going.
I’ve ordered from this restaurant many times in the past, both in person and over the phone, and there is almost always some minor issue. Normally I would move past that. However, the ongoing lack of follow through on a refund has made this experience unacceptable. At this point, I no longer feel comfortable ordering from here again. The workers are kind but it’s too much of a hassle for me.
Wife and I went last night. Two burgers and two fries. $40.00. Not cheap but worth it.

The sweet potato fries are also some of the best I’ve ever had and I’m generally a pretty picky eater.
