Probably the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Everything is seasoned to perfection, from the chicken tikka masala, to the naan. The Indian coffee was a nice, soothing end to lunch. If you’ve never had it, it’s similar to bulletproof coffee, imo. Creamy and frothy, with a mildly salty earthy taste.

The service was fantastic the first time I went, but was lacking a bit during this second visit. I kept having to wave waitstaff over when we needed something. Maybe it was because they were preparing to close for the afternoon.

It’s a great quiet spot. I have no idea why they never seem to be crowded. But those of us who go there are sure to be glad to keep this gem to ourselves.

The food was excellent! When you first sit down they bring a basket of fresh papad which is freshly toasted and you get to try it with a variety of sauces/pastes (tamarind, mint and coconut chutneys). You have to try the Kerala paratha. It is the perfect ratio of soft & crispy. The garlic naan was just right!! My wife and I had the chicken tikka masala which was bursting with flavor, and my favorite part was dipping the naan in the masala.

Ajanta has the best Indian food in Oklahoma. It is absolutely delicious. I’ve been twice and the first time had a wonderful experience with both the food and service. The second time service was appalling. We came at 5 o’clock, right when they opened for dinner service and they were still making a lot of noise and washing the bins left from their lunch buffet. Also, there were 4 people (servers) but no one really knew who was attending our table so we didn’t get consistent drink refills. The waiter carried away the tea and didn’t bring it back because he answered the phone and apparently forgot. When we left and we got our orders packed up they mixed all the dishes for the three different people together. So if you want to eat good Indian food, get takeout. For $80 before tip, the three of us really expected more.

Took the family a second time since the first time was great. Our experience was even better than the first. The service and staff were exceptional. The food was just as delicious as we remembered. We ordered various dishes and were not disappointed with any choices. The manager even offered to cook something my wife asked for that wasn’t on the menu. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for pleasant night out for tasty Indian cuisine!

I am a North Indian and this is my first time trying South Indian food and OMG I was amazed as I bit into the food. It was rich, full of flavor, every bite the flavor kept getting better. The service was fantastic,(they are under new management and I am glad that they are). If you are in the Edmond area, or wanting to try delicious Indian food; I recommend this HIGHLY! Will come back again!

Went in to try for first time recently…it was about noon and the place was empty. The decor was badly outdated and the overall complacent attitude was noticeable before I spoke to a single person. I was quickly met by a waiter who immediately told me there was no buffet. I didn’t inquire about the buffet but apparently they assume nobody would want to eat there otherwise…or maybe they assume big people always prefer an all you can eat menu. Either way it wasn’t a great experience and I will just make the trek to himilayas in Moore next time I want good Indian food. Such a shame!

Worst lunch ever! horrible service, awful food, overpriced; I was charged $11 for a side dish of cauliflower that was supposed to just be a replacement for the rice that i didn’t want. The food was cold and greasy and lacked flavor. The tandoori chicken pieces were almost bare of any actual chicken meat; mostly bones! The service was non-existent. I had to get up and go to the server to ask for a menu and never got one so i just ordered while standing there, with no menu. They could barely communicate in english so there was a huge language barrier. We will never go back. This place used to be very good. I don’t know what has happened to it.

It was really bad experience. This place looks closed and inside is only one waiter who keep on going inside and taking stuff from kitchen. The selection of food is worst (so less). All they got is only one chicken tandoori. I’m an Indian and been to many Indian food places in Oklahoma City. I drove like 11 miles for this restaurant and got really disappointed. The food was cold and no one is there to attend you & the charges remains same as other restaurant like $10 which is horrible with the amount of food they offer!!

It was really disappointing for me will never go there again! The worst buffet of my life!!!

Some of the reviews here make me wonder if those people actually ate at Ajanta. I have been frequenting Ajanta weekly since it’s inception in 1992, in all those years it only failed to completely satisfy twice, and on both occasions it was because they had lost their chef and the owner was not available to fill in. Consistently the best overall Indian restaurant I have eaten at in the whole of the USA, and I have eaten at numerous in many states. Always polite servers, attentive management, wonderful food, generous portions and no extra charge for rice and popas. A+

I used to love this place for good, tasty, fresh Indian food. Now the food tastes like it’s 3 days old and totally bland. Not Indian food anymore. Now I know why the restaurant was empty at the busiest time of the day (it used to be packed at lunch hour) – lunch time! I hope they fix it and bring back the taste otherwise I don’t expect the oldest Indian restaurant in OKC to survive 2016
