This time I had the regular Palonza, similar, but uniquely different than a calzone. It was made fresh, had a fluffy crust that was lighter than it looked and had very rich flavors in the sauce, pepperoni, sausage, and mozzarella cheese. It came with a pickle and a bag of chips. I ate the pickle and the Palonza, and took the chips with me.
I also had a side salad, which contained crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.
I always enjoy my times in Kirksville and a visit to Pagliai’s is on my list of must do’s when I come.
I ordered the broccoli cheese soup and cheesy bread. I asked how much come with the cheesy bread so I would have enough. She seats it’s small, so I ordered the larger portion.
It didn’t take long to get my soup. The presentation was nice. It looked like the soup was a bit thin. No matter, less calories for me. It tasted as expected and I was pleased.
The cheesy bread and sauce came after I had finished my soup. There was a lot of sauce. The good and thick kind. There were enough pieces of bread to satisfy me. My only critique would be this: The cheesy bread didn’t have flavor. It needed garlic or something. Also, I would have toasted it a bit longer. Lastly, the bread wasn’t toasted. I felt the bread was not the best. I would have added garlic and Italian seasonings. Usually, when I enter a pizza joint: If I can smell herbs, I’m happy.
