Best Mexican food in Maine, hands down!
New location, definitely an upgrade from the gas station! I love that the kitchen is still open to the seating area.
We drive 1.5-2 hours to come eat here, not as often as I like, but often enough that the owners recognize us.
Great prices, generous portion sizes, and they have a liquor license now… make sure to ask about the hidden menu item, Pacifico. We were in luck and they had a couple tucked away.
Hot sauces? They have a zillion… but ask for their house made sauces. The red has a great kick. Not Mainer hot, true heat with great flavor. Pairs well with the enchilada sauce.
Get here early, by 6:30pm on a Thursday their dining room was completely full!

5 stars all the way. Servers were friendly and professional. Atmosphere was great, food was delicious! Big portions, fair price, and piping hot and fresh. I got the chicken chimichanga and it was great.

El Pocho’s Mexican Grill is a fantastic spot for flavorful Mexican food. The service is excellent, and the staff makes you feel welcome. I tried the vegetable quesadilla, and it was amazing — fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The tacos were packed with flavor and just as impressive. I really enjoyed the dining experience and will definitely be coming back!

I went yesterday with my friend and had such an amazing lunch! The appetizers were so good and had so much that we couldn’t get to our meals, but the leftovers are yummy! I was pleasantly surprised at their consideration of vegetarian preferences. Our server was very kind and attentive. I asked if I could purchase the water glass I liked and they just gave it to me, free of charge We each had the margarita special (strawberry, watermelon lime) and they were so fresh and scrumptious! We will definitely be back, often!!

Tacos and sauces were great, although personally I prefer a bit more cilantro and onions. Rice and beans side wasn’t my favorite version as it was a bit too mixed together with softer rice on top of beans. Overall, a much more authentic taste than other places I’ve been in Maine. Really liked the atmosphere and server was excellent. Very reasonable prices.

Stopped here again recently. Still excellent. The folks making the food are awesome – friendly and cheerful. They clearly love what they do. The food was great. High quality and delicious. My previous high praise still stands!
What a great surprise. First, know that this restaurant is attached to the gas station. Second, know that this is not “gas station” food. The burrito and flautas were made with care and they were amazing. I think I have tried almost every Mexican restaurant in Maine, and this one is in the top of that category. The folks running the shop seemed to genuinely care that we had a good experience. The burrito, I had steak, was rich and earthy. The refried beans were especially good. The flautas had layers of flavor. If you like spicy, try the house red sauce. It is hot. Bottom line, if you are in Lewiston and are looking for some great Mexican food, give this a shot. You won’t regret it.
