Great place great service! The food was delicious! Beer selection was also great! Crowd was kid friendly. There’s hot dogs, beers, capuchinos, great mixed drinks, wings and burgers! Right next to hotel so that was a plus plus!

Enjoyed a night out with friends here and had the best time. The food was amazing, the drinks were well made, and the staff was friendly and attentive even though it was incredibly busy due to a country concert across the street. They even had a DJ come on a little bit later into the night and he shut it down with a great mix of music.

I can’t wait to go back and try something new.

This sports bar has grown up in a great way. Since new ownership took over, the fun for all atmosphere has expanded it’s footprint, overhauled the food menu options and food quality to rival corporate giants yet retaining affordable prices, and entertainment events to please all. From karaoke, to trivia, to sporting raffles and giveaways, to a weekend late night club vibe, you will not be bored while visiting the Junkyard in the Rancho Del Oro area of Oceanside. Also a great place to pre- and post-party when attending an event at the new Frontwave Arena.

After sitting around waiting for 15 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge my presence, I realized life is too short and went next door to mangia e bevi. I was happy to give them the business instead. I used to go to this place before events at frontwave but their food really isn’t nearly good enough to justify the awful service. There’s better food options on either side of this place, go there instead. It’s rather obvious the problem is with management, apparently they’re under new ownership and it’s clear that the new people are completely incompetent. This business deserves to fail. You’re a knockoff chili’s lol.

Also they were playing Benoit’s theme when I walked in, gross.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of great vibes and top-notch food, this place absolutely nails it. The menu is way above your typical sports-bar expectations—every dish is what you would expect at a nice restaurant.

The crowd is solid too: friendly, lively, and the kind of people who actually make watching a game more fun instead of chaotic. Inside, you’ve got plenty of space, TVs at every angle, and a legit pool table that always seems to draw just the right level of competition. Step outside and the patio feels like its own scene—laid-back, breezy SD weather, firepit!!

Overall, the atmosphere hits that rare sweet spot between energetic and comfortable. It’s the kind of spot you walk into for a quick bite and end up staying way longer than planned. Highly recommend.

The new owners have absolutely nailed this! Their team did a huge remodel and the space now is awesome. Their food is delicious and super shareable, we love that they have weekly karaoke and live music, and their drink selection has something for everyone. 11/10 would recommend and we’ll be back soon!

I used to enjoy coming here. Sad to say this place has gotten consistently worse since the remodel. No one wants to serve you since let the old staff go. If you walk up to the bar, it’s like you’re a nuisance. Have to wave someone down to get a drink. This bar used to be very friendly and quick to serve at a good price. Perfect for post-game at Frontwave. Not anymore. The new door guy lies about the “Sockers win” discount with a smile on his face even though there’s a poster on the door that represents the sponsorship for the team. A pathetic way to act over a $5 discount ESPECIALLY if you’re not the owner.

We went here for an NFL playoff game, and the atmosphere was great. There were supporters of both teams. The banter was competitive but friendly. Maybe it was the delicious wings or the giant pretzels but everyone got along well enough. This is going to be my new place to watch sports out of the house.

Updated Review (2025):
It’s been about six months since we last visited Junkyard. I knew they made a lot of updates and wanted to check out the new place. We had eaten some excellent Italian food next door at Mangia de Bevi and popped in here for a quick drink and some $3 tacos (for Taco Tuesday).

Before walking in, we noticed a whole new door had been created and could not enter the previous door so already that was a big change, but we were prepared for seeing the inside. Wow! They nearly doubled the square footage by blowing a way out and taking the space next door.

We sat at the bar. It’s happy hour virtually all day every day (M-F only) from 11:30 to 6:30pm, so we ordered some $7 Happy Hour margaritas. They were quite excellent and I could easily mow through several of these in a heartbeat.

We also ordered the $3 tacos, one of each: carne asada, carnitas, and achiote chicken. The chicken looked like it had a lot of flavor, but it really didn’t. All tacos needed a little more salt. The green salsa they add to the top of each is really good however.

Service was great and around 3pm it was pretty empty inside but when we left, people were beginning to trickle in.

Overall this is a really nice renovation they did and I’m anxious to try out the food. I heard they had a $20 beer & burger special we need to check out. Next time!

Old Review:
Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place. We first started coming to the Junkyard way back when it was in its old location, where Grandmas is now. Back then it was a total dive bar. Really terrible drinks and lots of drunk patrons.

Well, fast forward to 2024 and the drunk patrons are still there but the drinks have gotten way better. There are more bathrooms, more space, chairs and tables. And karaoke!

The food here is okay – not going to win any awards, but the last few times I’ve been here, it’s been really fun and now with the new Arena nearby, I predict this place will do gangbusters as there isn’t any competition. Yet.

Decided to try it again walked in got a seat sat down no bartender no waitress and we left Husband had fish and chips I had a fish sandwich a side salad. His fish was overcooked my side salad was excellent. It took 15 minutes to get a drink and you notice a different size of the glasses my husband got a small glass with a big chunk of ice and I got a taller glass so is really a big difference. It took forever to get the food out of the kitchen.

Now this is the second time that we’ve been there and the first time was really horrible service we ended up sitting down at a table that was not cleaned one way to talk by oh let me clean that second waitress walk by oh let me clean that and after the third waitress said the same thing we turn it finally flag somebody down so we decided to give it another try today and we’re still not impressed.
