We order 2 pizzas and some bread sticks.. got talked into putting the mozzarella on it.. and it was definitely worth it.
Both pizza came out in a good time and were crispy and tasty.
Their Caesar dressing was also good. (It cost .75)
It’s a tad on the spendy side for the size of pizza (~11-12″), but the flavors entirely make up for that.
I had the “Carnosa” ($19 – essentially what is their “meat lovers”) and “Amerena” ($17 – has caramelized onions and sausage).
The dough was the perfect amount of chewy, soft, crispy, crunchy and a tad charred. It was excellent dough. The sauce was perfectly seasoned.
They were both delicious pizzas, but I preferred the meat lovers a bit more.
If I’m craving some pizza, this is where I’ll be getting it from. Definitely recommend if you’re looking to treat yourself a bit.
The food itself is quite good, particularly considering how difficult it is to find a pizzeria that truly commits to wood fired, stone oven pizza. The dough is freshly made, the ingredients appear fresh, and the craftsmanship suggests care. Notably, it seems the cook may also be the owner, though this cannot be confirmed, which often contributes to the quality and passion behind the food.
However, food quality must also be evaluated through the lens of food safety and handling. While waiting for my order near the restaurant’s specialty bar, everything initially appeared flawless, almost exemplary, until closer observation raised concerns.
The chef, wearing black gloves while handling food, proceeded to move a trash bin, discard waste, and reposition the bin without changing or removing the gloves afterward, including the glove that made contact with the interior of the trash can. Food preparation then continued with those same gloves. While this may have been an oversight, it is a critical one in any food service environment.
Shortly after, a second issue occurred. A line prep staff member approached the chef to ask whether an item had spoiled. The chef confirmed it had, then accepted the item using the same gloves. It is also worth noting that the prep staff member was not wearing gloves and had been handling cash moments earlier. After placing the item down, the chef again continued preparing food without changing gloves.
At that point, as my order was nearing completion, I chose to take the food to go and ultimately discarded it due to uncertainty about potential cross contamination.
One additional observation, less critical but worth mentioning, was that the cook, prep staff, and cashier were not wearing hair restraints, while the dishwasher was. While this may not concern every guest, it does raise questions about consistency in sanitation standards.
While the food and service show genuine promise, these lapses in food handling protocol are significant. For that reason, I do not plan to return until the restaurant has undergone a health inspection or demonstrates clearer adherence to proper food safety practices in the coming months.
They had a decent amount of tables inside if you chose to stay here to enjoy your food, they also have a nice outdoor patio area with additional tables that could accommodate several more parties. They have several beers in the selection, as well as your normal rotation of soft drinks.
This place will not disappoint if you want a quality pie. It is also worth mentioning, they had a perfect health score posted on their wall, always nice to see that. I will be back in the future for another.
