Stopped by on a cross country road trip and googled ‘local donut shops’ for breakfast. My family was welcomed with friendly smiles and great service. The donuts were some of the freshest we’ve had and the pricing was way better than any chain donut shop has ever been. We will definitely stop again if ever driving through town. Thank you!

So I ordered a cake for my eighteenth birthday from here like I do every year and it has always been spot on. I gave them my inspo pic and told them exactly what I wanted, the only thing that i changed was making it a round cake. I pick the cake up to see something I could’ve had my 15 year old brother do. I’m beyond disappointed because I love getting my cakes from here but they really let me down. And I NEVER expected it to look exactly like the picture but this isn’t even close. The pink doesn’t look pink and there’s red splotches in it, the side designs are supposed to be pink, and only one regular boarder of black…

I had placed an order 2 weeks in advance for 100+ cupcakes for a work party. A week before, I called and spoke to another employee to confirm that the date was correct and the timing was right. The morning of, I was scheduled to pick up at 7:30am. I ended up being about an hour late, but that would not have changed anything as they did not have my order ready. They told me that someone had wrote down the wrong date for the pickup even though I spoke to 2 different people on 2 different days about the confirmed order. They told me that it would be about 30 minutes and so I waited in my car. After those 30 minutes, I went back to get the cupcakes and I waited in line for about 5 minutes before one of the ladies working saw me and pointed me to the back and said “your cupcakes are there. You can get them” As I was carrying the 100 cupcakes to my car, another customer helped me after I had made 2 trips. This customer service was some of the worst I have ever encountered. I understand mistakes happen, as I worked in food service for 7 years. But not once was there an apology and the girls at the front were all rude, then to have me carry all the cupcakes alone with no help and nobody verifying that I had everything I needed. I have heard such great things about this bakery, so it is very upsetting that their employees treat their customers this way. Unfortunately, this will be the first and last time Wood Bakery gets my business.

When I tell you that they have the BEST cheese danishes ever…I mean it sincerely. I live in Highland, so I’ve never been to the actual bakery location, I just stop in to Shell where they deliver donuts. It is SO difficult to find a well-made cheese danish that actually has a good pastry AND a happy helping of cheese AND an icing that isn’t too sweet. Wood’s danishes are perfection. Fluffy, soft pastry, huge dab of cheese, perfect balance of icing. 12/10.

I feel bad giving them a low review. They seem like nice people. The donuts were a little tough and I think they use some shortcuts (like store bought filling). I would skip them. The coffee tasted a little weak and they didn’t have cream or milk, just creamers. The little cookies were pretty good, some very good and some OK.

Finally made it to Woods bakery, and it was well worth the wait. Goodies galore, only problem they sold out of their Easter cookies. With that said, there was still plenty to choose from for my visit. Little pies and my favorite cherry with struesel crumbs, cinnamon Raisin Bread with icing, small cupcakes filled with icing, and last but not least, glazed donuts. I have to admit it was the best glazed donut I’ve ever tasted, so light & fluffy with just the perfect glaze on it. I could eat quite a few but stopped at one. Lest I forget, they make strollers, coffee cakes, mini cakes for birthdays, regular sized cakes and pies, Danish rolls, mini pies, cross buns, breads, noodles, muffins and tons of special cookies Frozen goodies, too, like carrot cake, cup cakes, birthday cakes.
I’m sure I’m missing items, so go check out this delicious bakery. You won’t be disappointed.

We’ve made it a family tradition to stop for donuts here on our way out of town. My personal favorites are the Bavarian cream-filled long John and the crunch cake donut. We’ve tried their pies and cookies as well. Nothing has disappointed yet, and you’ll be lucky to find a crumb leftover!

I finally got back out to the STL Donut Tour this weekend and stopped in to Wood Bakery. What a great shop! They have such amazing looking cakes and cookies and desserts with a giant wall filled with so many styles of Donuts to try! They have different specialty styles depending on which day you come in and I got the last Salted Caramel Long John today – so good! This place has some of the best cake donuts I’ve had on the tour this season! Definitely stop in here if you like cake donuts and custard filled donuts!
