The rock shrimp crostino was our first bite and it completely blew me away. The flavors build with each bite and showcase the thoughtful and well curated menu. The cacio e pepe salad and the octopus are absolute musts and I cannot wait to have them again.
The fresh pasta dishes are not to be missed, especially knowing they are all made in house. I highly recommend the spicy rigatoni with stracciatella and the pappardelle with pork ragù. After seeing the NY strip at another table, we ordered it for our entree and it did not disappoint. It was cooked perfectly and truly melted in your mouth. The branzino was just as impressive and tasted as beautiful as it looked.
Every dish was beautifully presented with such attention to detail, which comes as no surprise given the chef’s Michelin starred background. There truly is something for everyone on the menu, and it is the perfect spot for a date night or special occasion. I cannot wait to dine here again.
We had the sunchoke soup and eggplant parm croquettes. The soup was amazing and came with 3 tiny rolls made with some of the sunchoke. They were light and airy. The eggplant was nice and came with what we believe was an espuma. While the breading added a nice crunch, by the time you had the 4th, I was wishing the inside had a bit more texture as the eggplant was pureed. The espuma did not add much to the dish but it was a nice touch for looks.
For pasta, we had spicy rigatoni and the baked shells. Don’t let the spicy name keep you away as it’s a nice spicy and not a death spicy. Very good flavors on this dish and it did not disappoint! The baked shells were a great dish as well. The fontina cheese and tomato sauce were nice and refreshing. The dish came in its own rectangular ramekin and the top layer of shells had the nice little crispy char you love in a homemade style dish.
For the entrees, we had the NY strip and roasted chicken. We ordered the NY strip rare and it was perfect! Melt in your mouth and may have been due to not only the great cut but it was cooked in duck fat. The brussel sprouts were excellent as well, not gritty or tough. The big surprise was the carmelized onions were pureed. They were delicious! The roasted chicken tasted like your grandma used to make. Nice crispy skin but so juicy! The fregola in fra diavolo sauce has some heat if you like spicy. The portions of that were very good. We both had the polenta as a side that was super light with a nice amount of mushrooms.
For dessert, we had the pistachio gelato and the olive oil gelato. Both had a thicker consistency that you may expect from a gelato. The olive oil was ok but the pineapple it came was was the star. It was interesting but not something I would order again. The pistachio gelato was excellent, almost cake-like.
The service was good in areas and excellent in others. The appetizers did not come together as one would expect. I always find it awkward when that happens. The maitre d was extremely attentive but not overly so. Our server was very nice but got a little chatty at times. We asked about the appetizers and then received about a 5 minute run down on picks from the menu. We understand they were looking to be helpful, however, it was a bit too much. They should cut back slightly on the table visits as well. We don’t want to seem overly critical, but I guess every couple is different as to what their needs are. As for the decor, it was simple yet elegant. But the person I was with almost immediately noticed many of the pictures were crooked. Yes, a picky thing but it would drive an OCD person nuts! LOL!
All in all, a great new place with fantastic food and service. High end pricing but the home cooking taste shines through. With a few little edges sharpened, this place can easily be a staple on the area. A final compliment is that they use straws made from pasta! A great environmental touch!!!
Our waiter Aurora was so great, super attentive, incredibly kind, and really knew the menu, which made the experience even better.
You have to get the rock shrimp crostino, the spicy rigatoni, and the NY strip. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce it came with was delicious. Huge props to the chef and everyone who worked so hard to make this all come together.
Everything was excellent, definitely a must-try place and I can’t wait to go back.
For entrees, we had the NY strip and the chicken—both cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal, and the BYOB is a great bonus.
Our only small note is that for the price point, the protein portions on the entrees felt a bit on the smaller side. That said, the quality of the food and overall experience was excellent, and we’d absolutely return.
