I had an incredible experience at the Ale House in Cascade Locks, Oregon! From the moment I walked in, the bartender Sally made me feel like I was a local, even though I was just visiting from out of town. She took my order immediately and treated me like I was the most important customer to ever set foot in the bar. Her warm and friendly attitude truly made my visit special.
Sally even shared some fascinating local history, which added a unique touch to my experience. The foood was excellent, I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and it hit the spot. I ate every last bite, and it was perfect!
I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Shelly, who is just as wonderful as Sally. Shelly has created a welcoming, friendly atmosphere with great food and fantastic service. She made me feel like I was her number one customer, and her positivity is contagious.
If you’re in Cascade Locks, do yourself a favor and stop by the Ale House. Great food, great people, and an experience you won’t forget. Five stars, hands down.

Great food! If you are a PCT hiker, ask for the hiker trash burger. Huge burger where they use personal pepperoni pizzas as the bun. They generally make these when they are busy, but feel free to ask, it is amazing!!
They have indoor and outdoor seating and friendly service with good beer.

The food was outstanding and reasonably priced.
My husband had a French Dip, every ingredient was absolutely fresh and housemade. Best one he ever had.
My salad was super fresh and flavorful.
We will definitely come back next time we’ll come through Cascade Locks.
Our server Haley was personable, friendly and attentive.

We saw this place on our way through town to The Dalles and thought it looked like a place we should stop but they were closed. Several days later we were headed back home and were staying just across the street so we stopped in for dinner – so glad we did! The Salmon Chowder is amazing! We really liked the sandwiches we ordered too, especially the sweet spicy flavor of the Caribbean Chicken one. Service was great too. It is a bar style atmosphere, a little dark inside, so if that isn’t your thing this might not be your place. Overall we really enjoyed it and we will visit again soon!

We stopped in for lunch… they have great burgers… and have a vegan and veggie options as well… I got the chicken and let the server chose my beer.. she did a fantastic job… price was about right for 2 drinks 2 entrees and an appetizer… it was a bit slow for lunch but it was raining cats and dogs out… the waitstaff was very timely and took advantage of being less busy by providing great table talk and being attentive… haven’t had a quality conversation about Biodome the movie in a long time … we will eat here again next time we are in town!

Very over priced. I got the hikertrash burger, a beer, and the total was 31$. Ordering food was very chaotic and disorganized. The staff also demanded we sit outside on a chilly evening even when there was plenty of space inside. Food was good though if you can stomach the prices. I can’t imagine charging 25$ for a burger and it not even coming with fries! If you like saving money get food and beer at the market across the street.

The quality of service is the best, friendly staff and great food and beer. Nice patio area with grass for dogs to be on while enjoying the sunshine. I recommend their cider beer sometimes blackberry or raspberry…and pizza is yummy and their salmon chowder

Great food. This is also a good place to people- watch as hikers on the PCT drift in and out. The French fries here taste didn’t die too something about the batter they use. They also sell jars of horseradish.

I had the salmon chowder at the insistence of my friend and I was not disappointed at all. It was very thick and creamy. I felt like I was eating the chowder from a high end restaurant. Perfect place to stop after a day in the Columbia River Gorge.

Great spot! We just game in to wet our whistles & try a couple of appetizers. Salmon chowder was tasty – as well as the bruschetta. Ask for a sample of their horseradish- you will not be disappointed!
