I’m going to try to average this “up” to 4 stars but if allowed I think 3.5 stars is more accurate

I’ve read the previous reviews and decided to give the place a try this morning

I’m puzzled about all the 5 star reviews. I can only imagine it amounts to this being the locals “favorite place” and that’s fine. If I’m looking at it objectively I just can’t rate it there. Other breakfast spots in Avon, Granby and Southwick MA all beat this place in my opinion

The food is decent enough. Toast was strangely Texas Toast thick (which is fine but unexpected). Breakfast is standard diner food, nothing overly special

Service was friendly once you got into the building as this place does have a wait (even on a Tuesday morning…also puzzling). Waiting for a seat for breakfast you would expect fancy. You would be incorrect There were AT LEAST 10 employees that I counted and they could barely keep up

This is a VERY blue collar atmosphere which you would not expect in Simsbury CT. I myself work a blue collar job…but the atmosphere is very cramped, with the clientele being mostly retired seniors and overweight middle aged family members dressed down.

In other restaurants you might see the occasional business professional, town lawyer, accountant etc in at least a dress shirt and chinos slacks with decent footwear. That is not what I witnessed

Today’s crew looked more like spectators or participants from a Sturgis Bike rally. Rough looking crew and overly noisy. Not a place you can concentrate on doing anything important on your phone or iPad. Tough to even concentrate on reading a newspaper with all the noise

The rear of the building where I had to park down a hill behind Simsbury Pharmacy is not worth the effort just to get to the food. The rear of the building looks like the Town dump…but maybe I’m not supposed to see that

I’d rate this as a place you can go to for a quick meal if you are driving through the area and you can easily get a parking spot on a slow day

Certainly not worth waiting in line just to get a seat as there is truly nothing special about it

There is counter seating 3 spots but you end up looking at cups of Crayola crayons (which I supposed are given to children while they wait for food)

No TV on the wall to watch while eating like similar establishments have. Not competitive

Priced HIGHER than other establishments in the local area

It’s an overly busy spot that is just not my atmosphere. I’ll try to stick to more low key atmosphere where the food is actually better and the service just as friendly

I find most of my greatest eateries on google search. They are routinely on the spot. The Harvest Café and bakery is no exception. Our family knew it was going to be good when we got there and had to wait about a half an hour to get a table. The wait staff was fast and efficient and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the harvest Café for breakfast.

We enjoy occasional breakfasts and brunches at Harvest Café and are never disappointed, but we were really delighted and I will admit a bit surprised by the superb job they did on a luncheon catering job for 50. The food was delicious, enthusiastically complimented on by our guests and fresh. It also was very reasonably priced in comparison with what more fashionable caterers in West Hartford and Farmington would’ve charged for food that certainly would be no better. As for freshness, I arrived a half an hour early for a scheduled 11:30 AM pick up. The sandwiches and other offerings were not completed yet, but would be by 11:25 or so. I said that I could take what was already completed and put it in my car, but the chef said no, the better thing to do would be for them to keep everything in their own refrigerator until everything was ready. I came back at 11:20 and everything was ready. It was a Sunday morning and the waiting line for the brunch crowd was long. I would not have been surprised if they have been a bit late, since the restaurant was so busy, but they were calm and ready on schedule and a bit before. They say their goal is to have everything absolutely fresh, made the same day and ready at the scheduled time. That and the quality of their food is a compelling combination. Five stars, for sure.

What’s not to love! Stopped during first snow this season. Got turkey stew with Ruben and husband got eggs and corned beef hash. Everything, including the bread, homemade. Excellent service, warm and friendly! Cozy inside and out! A great find!! ❤️

A Magical Morning at Harvest Cafe

As a regular diner who cherishes the joy of a heartening breakfast, I am inclined to share my excellent encounter at the Harvest Cafe. Being a local favorite known for its fresh fare and charming ambiance, my friends and I decided to come here for our usual Saturday morning breakfast, and we left feeling fulfilled and seen.

Upon arrival, the cafe was buzzing with energy, bringing with patrons eagerly waiting for their meals. The atmosphere was vibrant, a perfect setting for a leisurely breakfast. The day’s experience was simply perfect.

Being directed to a cozy corner, we settled in, expecting an enjoyable start to our day. Our first blessing came in the form of swift order placement from a very attentive staff of servers. We found ourselves feeling visible and taken care of.

This was an extremely promising start, as always. The food was out in less than 20 minutes, and my coffee mug was never empty (free refills!). The food, when it arrived, was delicious, made better by the efficiency of the service.

The best part of this experience is our interactions with the manager. The manager is a very active member of the team, constantly checking in on his customers to ensure that everyone is having a wonderful experience.

I am well aware that a single customer’s satisfaction might very well affect the bustling business of Harvest Cafe because I will be coming here again and again and again. This review is not just about the business, it’s about shedding light on a wonderful experience and perfect establishment.

In the hospitality industry, the customer’s experience is paramount. While the food is a key aspect, the service and attitude of the staff can make or break the dining experience. In our case, the attentive response from the manager and wonderful service turned our much-anticipated breakfast into an incredible experience.

Every customer deserves to be heard and respected, especially when they have a legitimate concern. The Harvest Cafe succeeded in living up to this fundamental expectation. The manager’s positive attitude and sense of responsibility left our hearts warm and bellies full.

In conclusion, the Harvest Cafe is a local favorite for a reason. The combination of delightful food and staff makes for a beautiful start to the day. It’s a dining experience we’ll never forget and will keep repeating forever.

Food was great. Problem was 2 out of the 3 sandwiches i ordered over phone were completely wrong. I am new to area and opening a new store down the block. Order taker over phone did not not message kitchen proper request. Not the kitchens fault, food was very good. Just needs to listen more carefully. Will try again since food was tasty.

My family and I have been coming to Harvest Café and Bakery for the better part of 15 years, and I can’t believe I’m only NOW writing a review! This place is a true Simsbury gem (having been around for 30+ years!) and offers consistently delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and the absolute best team around.

Scott, the general manager, is the hardest working guy in the restaurant business! He’s always on site, always super funny and friendly, always on point, and clearly loves what he does. His staff reflects that same energy: welcoming, attentive, and just awesome.

Our favorite dishes are the top-notch Foster and Gorgonzola Scrambles. Harvest Cafe also always has new specials and their French Toast and Pancake specials are always creative and delicious. And do NOT miss the homemade bread you can order with almost every meal (or purchase on your way out), because it’s amazing!

Harvest Cafe feels like home each and every visit. If you haven’t been, please check them out (they do get very busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly). You’ll be glad you did!

This was our first time trying Harvest Cafe. It was pretty good. Great cup of coffee and the staff was very friendly. Kind of on the pricey side for breakfast. My wife had a French toast that was actually a pound cake. It was okay, but way too sweet. I had the jambalaya omelette and it was amazing. When they ask what kind of toast you want, go with the sourdough… trust me. We took a loaf home with us.

Great service and atmosphere. Didn’t sit and eat, just grabbed a breakfast sandwich for $9. Bagel tasted good and fresh but a bit pricey.
