The music fits the vibe so well, it just makes everything feel more intimate and effortless.
The drinks were honestly one of the best parts. You can tell the bar team really knows what they’re doing, every cocktail was well balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. Everything had so much attention to detail.
The food was also really good, full of flavor and perfect to pair with the drinks.
The service overall was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better.
I would definitely come back and recommend it. It’s such a nice spot to just sit, have a drink, and enjoy the vibe.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to that standard. When you first walk into a restaurant, what shapes your first impression along with the interior? The staff. From the moment we were first shown to our table, the host didn’t give that welcoming feeling. As for the male server assigned to our table, I believe he was probably the nicest one there. However, overall, there was no allergy check, no water refills, no menu explanations, no clearing of dishes, and no proper cutlery service. On top of that, one female server kept bumping into my chair as she passed by—without any apology or an “excuse me.” It was incredibly distracting during the meal.(For the record, there was nothing hanging on my chair, no bag or coat.)
If this were Europe, where tipping isn’t mandatory, I might have brushed it off. But here, where tipping is expected and servers are guaranteed at least a minimum regardless, it’s frustrating to feel like you’re still expected to tip even when the service doesn’t meet a minimum standard.
Maybe it’s because the restaurant just opened and hasn’t settled in yet. Personally, it feels like a place that could earn a Michelin star for its food, but if the service stays like this, it might struggle to last. Vancouver has plenty of restaurants with similar concepts—why choose one with poor service? I’m giving three stars for the food and thanks to the only server who was *somewhat* nice.
1. I booked a month in advance for Valentine’s Day. When we arrived, the host told us, “We only have seats available at the bar tonight.” I asked if there really weren’t any tables available and she said unless there were cancellations, no. I tried to recall whether I had selected bar seating when booking, but I genuinely don’t think that was even an option.
2. She then seats us at the bar and offers to check our coats. We say thank you. She takes my partner’s coat, gives him the ticket, and just walks away while I’m standing there with my coat already off waiting for her. I just stood there confused for a second before sitting down with my jacket hanging on the back of my chair. I eventually flagged down another server who kindly checked it for me.
3. There didn’t seem to be much knowledge of the menu from the staff. Plates were just dropped off and that was it. If I’m paying $200 for dinner, I expect at least a bit of explanation or engagement.
For the risotto, I had to ask for a serving spoon especially since I could see other guests had one. Same thing with the beef cheeks. No serving spoon came out, so we just started serving ourselves awkwardly. Five minutes later, someone came from the back and dropped one off.
Also, because we were seated right at the bar top, the bartenders were spraying cocktail aromas while making drinks, and it was literally misting over our food. At one point, they actually sprayed it onto my risotto. That shouldn’t be happening.
4. I had to call out twice just to get our water refilled, while sitting at the bar. I know this isn’t Michelin-star dining, but at $100 per person, you expect a certain level of attentiveness.
Overall, it was a pretty disappointing Valentine’s Day experience. The food itself was good, but the $200 prix-fixe didn’t feel worth it – shared dishes of scallop crudo, a bruschetta duo that felt heavy on bread, risotto, and beef cheeks. It just didn’t justify the price.
There’s definitely potential here, but if they want returning customers, the front-of-house training and overall service experience really need improvement.
The decor and aesthetic of the room felt cozy and chic, matching the location. Only downside to the space was how noisy it was. With the speakers blaring and tables close to each other, it was quite difficult to hear my friend and it made me want to quickly finish the meal and head somewhere quieter.
From start to finish the food and drink was fabulous.
We were seated immediately and here’s what we ordered:
Winter Burrata- my favorite dish and we couldn’t get enough of the flavors
Stuffed dates- small but dangerous. Also amazing and the shaved Parmesan made it both unique and addicting
Braised short rib- melt in your mouth
Pork Chop special- served on a bed of chick pea ragu with Italian chimichurri
Chocolate mousse first dessert- it was good but it might order another beverage next time instead.
Adam spinning the funk- 10/10 and if this music is your jam it was an added bonus.
All in all, it was just perfect.
Shout out to Sofie our server who was pleasant and fun.
Just go here but be sure to reserve–you won’t be disappointed!
We ended up doing two orders of oysters just cuz they were super fresh.
We did Farfaline and Branzino al Forno.
Best fish dish ever… everything was cooked perfect.
Farfalline was a bit salty for my taste (I usually prefer lighter seasoning), so I was planning to order a bread-based dish instead. But they served this pasta with bread and a cheese that paired perfectly with it, and it turned out to be absolutely delicious.
I originally had another place in mind for Valentine’s Day with my partner, but after it received a Michelin star, it no longer felt like good value for money, so we decided to make a reservation here instead.
Highly recommended! ✨
The disappointment: the bruschetta had a really confusing blend of sweet and savory. The mascarpone cheese did not complement the mortadella well. Imagine eating a bologna cheesecake ….
The scallop crudo did not have enough acid and was served room temp. It also had a rubbery texture, not sure if over-cured.
The farfalline was inedibly salty. Our waiter offered to remake it and it was taken off the bill.
We were very excited for this restaurant but the venue’s curse continues.
