This is hands down the best bar on the beach, in my opinion. Janice, the Owner, has done an incredible job over the years, and it truly shows to this day. Perfect place to relax, enjoy a drink, soak in the amazing view and atmosphere—or even take a peaceful walk on the beach. Highly recommend!

Great beach bar with affordable drinks and excellent service! Be sure to bring your ID—and even your pup can hang out with you until 9 PM. The only drawback is that there didn’t seem to be any air conditioning, so I can imagine it gets pretty warm in the summer. Still, the atmosphere was awesome, and I’ll definitely be back!

My wife and I visited Atlantic Beach the day after our wedding and came to this tavern. This might sound dramatic, but before this day I wasn’t a beer drinker. After this day, I defected. They had the best beers on tap. There was a mango draft beer that was probably the best I’ve ever had. That, combined with the beautiful location, weather, and service from our bartender created a memory I’ll probably have forever. If you need a beer, come here. If you don’t need a beer, come here all the same.

We came here as part of a wedding celebration, which was supposed to be a really special night, but unfortunately the bartenders completely ruined the experience. They were incredibly rude to us, dismissive, and even refused to serve us without explanation. What should have been a joyful and memorable evening turned into frustration and disappointment because of their attitude. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good service.

Cozy tavern right on the beach with friendly staff, easy access in/out, and the bar specials are the best on the island! Christa makes a fantastic spicy bloody mary to kickstart your day, too!! The owner, Rich, has put together a dog-friendly, fun, relaxing pub with plenty of outdoor seating including its own sandy beach nook complete beach chairs and everything. The only drawback is it’s cash-only and the ATM charges a $3 service fee on top of whatever your bank is going to charge. In this day & age hardly anybody carries cash anymore.

We had a blast at the Tackle Box this past weekend. We were celebrating my 50th with my college besties. We did not know it was cash only and the bartender (good looking, also a fireman) came running to us and said he would give us cash if we venmo’d him. Best decision we ever made that night. The live music, bartenders and regulars made us feel like we were family!
We went back the next night for a drink before dinner…. and then back to sing karaoke after dinner. If you are looking for a fun time with an awesome atmosphere and cheap drink prices…this is the place! We will be back!!!

Great place for a cheap beer! The bar tender was super nice. They are dog friendly and even gave our pups treats. However, cash only. Thankfully we had cash.

The “Tackle Box Tavern” is a hand-off bar from “Tina” in Virginia Beach. Bar stools are back to work in NC, but the only bar stool happened to be next to the co-owner “Rich” (my pARTy Gods always gave a plan). “Rich” gave me an interesting insights into the design & construction of the “Tackle Box”.
The “Tackle Box” is a very nautical-themed ocean view bar with an emphasis on mermaids. It appears to be a friendly interactive bar with the usual beach characters.
The bar is a CASH ONLY beer & liquor bar with option to order in food. Freedom has returned to NC, as all the bar stools are operational & the customers are maskless & walkin’ about.
