Today was my very first time trying this place. I asked for the $8 meal deal, which the cashier told me they didn’t have anymore but rang me up for anyway (confusing). Anyway, I got the classic cheeseburger lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, fries, coke, and an Oreo shake. All of which came up to $18.48. Overall, everything was ok. The shake was rather tasty, not the best but not bad at all. The burger tasted fresh and was good. The fries were just ok, not the best fries I’ve had but not terrible. I would definitely come back for the 8 meal deal and a shake. It’s good if you’re at the mall or you’re hungry and want a fast burger. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here unless I was at the mall.

I ordered the Bourbon burger and chili fries. My wife ordered the chicken tenders. To be honest, the food was decent, but the service was EXTREMELY slow. I have a rule for mall food: I don’t expect you to have the best food, but I shouldn’t wait 25 minutes for subpar food. Every 5 minutes after 10 minutes, you lose a star. (I’ll give you one more try at a later date.) I’ll edit this review accordingly.

I stopped by Wayback Burgers in Newport News and was really impressed! The burgers were fresh, juicy, and cooked just right — you can really taste the quality. The fries and shakes were awesome too, especially the Oreo milkshake. The staff was super friendly and made the experience even better. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a nice, relaxed vibe.
Definitely one of the best burger spots in the area — I’ll be coming back for sure!

Figured we would try them out we normally go to chick filet or sabarro but my son wanted to try there chicken well let me tell ya about his chicken, the oil that thay dropped in in was overheated my guess about 430° im a full blow chef myself.. we do eat out when away from the house, the inside of the chicken was hardened the exterior “batter” could be used as a weapon if thrown at someone lol can’t make this up

I had a great experience at Wayback Burgers in Newport News! The burgers were fresh, juicy, and cooked just right — every bite was satisfying and full of flavor. I especially loved the generous toppings and how the food is made to order. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the meal even better. Plus, the nostalgic vibe of the place gives it that classic burger joint feel. Definitely a go-to spot for delicious burgers and shakes — I can’t wait to go back!

I would highly recommend! My husband and I ate here for the first time this evening and loved our meal! We ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger and Chicken Bacon Ranch (lettuce) bowl. We waited about 10 minutes for a super fresh and satiating meal! We loved both entrees – the burger was hot and juicy and the bowl was light and fresh with tender, perfectly cooked chicken. I personally liked how well balanced the bowl was. We also split the Brownie milkshake which was just another reason we will be back! The milkshake was topped with large brownie chunks but there were also plenty of brownie bits mixed into the shake. All of the staff were respectful, courteous, and friendly! I would give 11/10 stars if I could – check this new burger spot out if you get the chance!!

I picked this place because I had read decent reviews about it. However I wasn’t satisfied at all. I got the single bourbon bacon cheeseburger which wasn’t that great to me. It tasted like it was swimming in ground mustard. The onion ring that was on it had a weird big flat onion in it. The onion rings I ordered with the drink was ok. I watched as they prepared food. They count the number of tater tots they cook for an order! It says to download the app to scan the QR code on card. It took me to website to register & it gave me a code for free classic cheeseburger. You guessed it, it wouldn’t work & they wouldn’t accommodate the error on their end. Good luck trying this place. I won’t be back.

I really needed a juicy hamburger today and I took a chance on Wayback Burgers at the Patrick Henry Mall. The service was excellent and the burger really hit the spot. I got a double hamburger (without cheese) and with their normal toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and catchup.
It was really perfect, and I could see that the patties being cooked were fresh hunks of beef and not mystery meat.
Delicious. I will be back.

This place was very amazing. The food has lots of flavors and options to choose from. I tried their oreo shake and it was amazing. The food allows you to get full from just a burger. This place had no wait for tables and just a few minutes for food.I would love to come back and try other food they have to choose from.Definitely would recommend to come here and try their excellent food. Im am totally going to give them 5 stars.
