We had a phenomenal experience at Char Steakhouse in Scotch Plains for Valentine’s Day! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
Our waiter was outstanding and went above and beyond to make our evening special, even surprising us with a few complimentary items, which was such a thoughtful touch. To top it off, I was given a flower as we were leaving — such a sweet and memorable detail.
Overall, it was truly a 5/5 experience. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️

My fiend was feeling for a good steak for her birthday and we decided upon Char. We made reservations which is recommended and we were seated immediately. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant. Our server was very professional. He explained the menu and the special menu perfectly. They also acknowledge my friend by her name. The menu is ala carte so you do pay separately for your sides. We had quite a few things from calamari, lollipop lamb, crab cake, and different steaks. I can speak for mine which was the NY Strip medium well. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Others at the table seemed to like theirs as well though my husband wasn’t a fan of his fillet mignon. The cocktail menu is fairly limited but they do have an extended wine menu.
Cons: We purchased a cake from the outside and they do charge to cut it per slice. They did not sing Happy Birthday, the guy said he thought we were going to do it. The service seemed a little rushed as I observed the waiter looking at his watch numerous times. Don’t want to judge, maybe we were taking too long to order.
Over a good night but for the price I’ve had better steaks and experience.

This was hands down the best experience. Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and all the food was fresh and high quality. The cocktails were excellent and perfectly made.
I highly recommend the dumplings. They were incredible and a must try.
The atmosphere was great and not too loud, which made it even more enjoyable.
And David was outstanding. He gave us the best service, was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect the entire time. He truly made our experience even better.

Wow Wow Wow..!! (In our opinion) the food and staff were awesome. Ben (our server) was super nice. Very attentive and had awesome knowledge of the menu. Was it expensive? Yes.! Was it worth it? Absolutely.! My Husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we enjoyed everything. From the welcoming hostess, to the bartenders even the young man (I cannot remember his name/20yrs old) who picked up our dishes. We will definitely be back with family. Thank you everyone.!

Excellent! This replaced Grillstone, and We were very impressed and pleased! The ambiance is everything the food was very good especially the GRATIN. The staff was so kind. THE FOOD WAS AMAZINGGG! Michelin Star QUALITY! I have a had the pleasure to be served by some of the greatest chefs & I was so pleasantly surprised to find a gem right in my backyard. We will be back as regulars. Staff was so friendly, well dressed & restaurant wasn’t only clean but aesthetically pleasing. Simple but decor was modern and super classy. Dont walk but run & eat some food that will literally keep you gasping. Reservation should be booked & request Jocelyn, you wont regret it.
