Service was substandard and server was actually rude. I am celiac and ordered risotto in this same restaurant 8 months ago and it was gluten free. Our server told me it is made with flour (which is odd) and when I asked if they could make it without flour, he told me it was cooked ahead of time. Not what I would expect from a high end restaurant. I asked if he could ask the chefs if they could make it from scratch and he seemed all put out by the request. He came back and told us he was right they won’t do it. He seemed very annoyed he had to do that. He did not even ask if I wanted gluten free crackers to go with the complementary bruschetta. He just out it on the table and left.

For dinner, I had gluten free pasta in a dish with Parmesan sauce and shrimp, sun dried tomatoes and bacon. See photo. The shrimp was cut into small pieces which I have never seen before but the real problem was that there was so much creamy sauce it had no real taste. I mixed the rest of the bruschetta in and asked for lemons and lots of pepper to add some taste but the cream was still overwhelming. The risotto was ordered by my partner and it was actually very creamy as well. He only ate half of it.

We sat outside where most of the seating is and could not hear each other much of the time because it is on a busy road. Also there was a large door open to the inside beside me and a table right behind me. There was maybe a foot at the most behind my chair and the person behind me and the servers kept using it to get into the restaurant from the patio. (There were two other access points that meant they had to take a few steps). Our server was just grumpy the whole time and it made the whole experience unenjoyable.

I have to say I had a different experience here in May 2025 and also December 2024. Service was great. They worked hard to make accommodations for my celiac disease. But having bad food and terrible service here this time, I would not go back.

Confessions of a Restaurant: La Forchetta

For me, it honestly can’t get much better than this.

You know when you walk into a place and immediately feel like you made the right decision?
That is the vibe.
The table? Perfect.
The lighting? Cozy but not cave-like.
The energy? Just right.

And then there was Damian. Delightful doesn’t even cover it.
Attentive without hovering.
Knowledgeable without lecturing.
Charming without trying too hard.
The kind of server who elevates the whole experience simply by being good at what he does.

Insalata Capresse – Sometimes the simplest dishes are the hardest to get right — and this one absolutely delivered.

Now let’s talk about something that rarely gets the attention it deserves: temperature.

The pasta was hot. Not warm. Not “it sat in the pass a little too long.” Actually hot. Steaming. Twirl-your-fork-and-blow-on-it hot. It is shockingly rare to have pasta hit the table at the temperature it deserves — and they nailed it.

The pappardelle? Excellent. Rich, balanced, comforting in that “I need to pause and appreciate this bite” kind of way.
The lasagna? Also excellent. Layers that hold their structure, flavour that holds your attention.

After dinner, we leaned in. A little wine. A little Licor 43. Because when the meal is this good, you’re not rushing out the door — you’re settling in.

And then dessert.

Hands down, one of the best desserts you’ve ever had. The kind that makes the table go quiet for a second. The kind where you immediately say, “Okay, we’re coming back.”

I forget the desserts name but if you refer to it as the “chocolate dome” im sure you’ll get it.

Hopefully your lucky enough to go when the saxophone guy playing.

So here it is, my confession:

Make the reservation.
Order the pasta.
Stay for dessert.
Thank Damien.

And go.

We decided to book this restaurant for our 10th anniversary celebration, and it was the best decision of our entire Los Cabos trip. The vibe was cozy, the service was top-notch, the food was excellent, and they even prepared a special dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The goat cheese beet salad is something to die for! Highly recommended for anyone wanting a great dining experience in San José del Cabo.

this place was so great! the service was amazing! our server jonathan (JJ) was fantastic and made the experience wonderful. the price overall for everything we got was surprisingly decent! i honestly expected we were going to pay more. we got 3 alcoholic drinks, a sparkling water, 3meals, and an appetizer and it was 150$. i got the caprese burrata and it was good, had some pesto on it. my husband got the pappardelle bianco di short rib, he said it wasn’t the best pasta he has ever had, but it was very good and definitely score points for uniqueness as he’s never had anything like it. i also thought it tasted very good. i got the penne gorgonzola e charcuteri and it was amazing!! there was SO much flavor i was very happy. they did not have a children’s menu, but he was so nice and accommodating to offer our choice of noodle and choice of pasta sauce. our 4 year old liked it, and ate the rest for dinner the next day 🙂 it was my husbands birthday and they surprised him with a chocolate dessert! it was so good, with ice cream and a brownie. we said we wanted to come back another night during our stay to try another dish, because they all looked so good!!!

Love coming to eat Italian food with our favorite server Ricardo and the entire crew! Chef Fernando offers creative combinations that delight everyone, along with the standard favorites. Don’t forget the Chocolate Lava cake even if it is not a special occasion.

La Forchetta is a charming little gem within walking distance from our hotel! As first-time visitors, we had a wonderful experience thanks to our server, Damian. We ordered two pizzas: the Corleone and the Cipolla prosciutto, and both were fantastic.

Being a mosquito magnet, I had forgotten to apply bug spray before dinner. Damian noticed how uncomfortable I was becoming due to the bug bites while we sat on the patio. He kindly offered me bug spray, which I really appreciated.

We are grateful to have discovered this restaurant, and we will be returning every time we visit Cabo from now on!

The food here is absolutely amazing! I especially love the personal touch from the owners—they greet everyone who walks in and make you feel so welcome. I visit this town 2–3 times a year, and I never leave without ordering the baked lasagna. It’s hands-down the best I’ve ever had!

A special shout-out to my favorite server, Jonathan. He’s been taking care of me for years and is such a sweetheart—always friendly, attentive, and kind. This place is a must-visit!

Had a wonderful dinner tonight Jan 14/26. Food, atmosphere, service, absolutely first cabin. Gave it 5’s only because there was no 7! Highly recommend. Owner came by for a check-in – nice touch. Street musicians playing below the restaurant terrace and the neighbouring restaurant just added to atmosphere. If Kramer were asked if he wanted to go, he’d say ….GIDDY-UP!
