I had never been here prior to this visit. I was a fan of Nans Taqueria before they closed. Nans is now part of Nayar. Chef Miranda knows the importance of cooking with love. She is dedicated to her craft and community. The only think bigger than the flavor of her food is her heart. The restaurant is a total vibe. Casual with funny posters and signs all over. Service was exceptional.

Pretty quirky taqueria. Food is so good. Got the Santa Fe rolls and ground beef enchiladas Del Mar style, So good and and fresh. Will definitely come back.
Make sure to wash your hands before eating, the bathroom is funny

Cute spot with a fun atmosphere. A great place to wait out traffic if you’re close during happy hour. We arrived after that though and had a wonderful time. I had the birria tacos and a fried fish taco while my husband had a burrito and both came out looking delicious with flavors to match. Front of house service was fun and effervescent. Will be back to try happy hour and dinner again.

Love this little hidden gem in SE Portland. Right on foster street colorful building with authentic local ingredients that you can taste, enjoy and feel like some grandma in a back alley in Mexico prepared it with love. For someone that goes to Mexico a lot this is Definetly a spot to check out. I was shocked it’s been there for 20+ years. Once you taste it you will know why they have been and deserve to be around still. Drinks are great too , grab a seat at a tiny bar while you wait for your food to go or sit back and relax with a friendly staff. I love the quirky signs they have at the bar. Prices are great compared to some overpriced low quality Mexican food around. I am back for Chilli Rellano burrito with added Carne asada per chefs recommendation. Wow. This is huge monster of deliciousness …. I can’t believe I ve been living in SE all these years and just discovered it this year.

Between the decor, the menus, and the food itself, it’s like you ended up in some random bar in Fort Lauderdale, and I don’t mean that in a good way.
I love mezcal but their “Mezcalita” is a terrible flavor combo with watermelon; somehow ends up tasting like a cheap leather shoe you’d buy from Nordstrom Rack. Couldn’t finish it.
Served nachos in a tall bowl. When has anyone ever said, “I want my nachos stacked higher, layer on layer?” No – nachos need surface area so they don’t steam under each other or end up without any toppings at all.
Tacos are $4 on average and the quality isn’t there to warrant a higher average price than most tacos these days. Overly breaded fish tacos; overcooked chicken.
If you think the decor is quirky, I’ve got a few “live laugh love” signs to sell you. There’s no cohesion at all, it’s like your aunt’s facebook feed vomited itself into a restaurant.
Service is all out of whack: diners that came after us had their drinks served before ours; server came back multiple times asking follow up questions that should’ve been asked first time.
In a city full of amazing food, service, and thoughtful design, it’s mindblowing that this place is in business and that it has a 4.5 average at the time of writing this. Wasted my money.

This place is hilarious and they lean into the jokes throughout there decor, but don’t let it make you think they aren’t serious about the food. This is classic Mexican cuisine made with care and authenticity. I had the tofu tacos and it was easy to modify them to my dietary restrictions. The staff were super kind, fun to chat with, and willing to be helpful at all times without being annoying.
Be sure to check out the way they decorated the restroom. It’s delightfully funny.

I judge all of my Mexican restaurants by the rice and beans… I give them a 10. Just like my grandma makes! My chile relleno was delicious, and my husband who is from Oaxaca even said he approved of the molé. We heard the chef makes her molé from Michoacan, and he still approved, and that’s big! What a cute plate in SE. Quirky, eclectic, and just what the doctor ordered. They had sports on the TV, and the bartender was hilarious. This place is a hidden gem, am stoked I found it!
