Love the story behind this restaurant, awesome name for the place & clever menu titles. This place is located near the train tracks & my graffiti loving husband and I loved that. The very neat location of this burger joint reflects the unique culture of San Antonio; no gentrified urbanization here, just the real southern deal. I am from out of town, but I can see why SA locals love The Lord’s Kitchen. The owner, a military veteran named Ray, is one of their own, and his restaurant reflects the heart of the city: cool, resilient, tough and unwavering though much has befallen it. The first best thing about The Lord’s Kitchen is that it is Christian, and the second best thing has to be the homemade fries. The city of San Antonio needs more of Christ, and I’m glad this place can point people to Him even if just through the beautiful Bible verses sprawled throughout the restaurant. The owner (Ray) got some things wrong during our visit…but when I addressed it, he apologized with sincerity and everything was smoothed over. Love truly covers a multitude of sins. I very much appreciate Ray’s humility and willingness to accept customer feedback. Perhaps my family and I will visit The Lord’s Kitchen again someday.
I pray that this small, family owned restaurant would continue to be blessed by the Lord with prosperity and peace.

P.S. I pray that they do not open a bar, not because alcohol is inherently sinful, but because people are. These are just my two cents based on my personal convictions. I believe that the Lord will provide another way to keep this special place going! God bless.

I got the bacon cheese burger and added avocado everything about the burger was on point. Greasy enough, the avocado was mashed and the bacon was cooked to perfection. The fries were good too but if you like them a little crunchy be sure to ask otherwise they were a bit on the flimsy side. The owner was so nice, we will definitely be back.

I feel terrible, I am the one who recommended this place to my family of 8. A decent home style burgers, the 1/4 lb meat and the 1/2 lb meat were the same size. How does that work. Just remember you’re getting a “Hamburger” with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo and mustard. Anything else you add is an extra $.50 to $2:50. Here’s a great tip, order your drink without ice so you get the whole 20oz bottle of soda. See what they do is open your 20oz soda, pour it over the ice and keep the remainder so when you ask for a refill, they can charge an additional $3:00. It wasn’t necessarily the cost of things but the methods and tactics. One good thing I can say is that the fries were hot and the customer service was good. By the way I “Don’t”, I say again, I “Do Not” recommend the hotdogs. Unfortunately I’m never returning nor recommending this place again. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give this place a shot. Oh yeah, there’s no military discounts in a town that revolves around 5 major military installations and many more minor facilities and tens of thousands of military personnel and civilian personnel affiliated with the military. I wish the best for this establishment moving forward. Hopes this helps. Good luck!

First time customer. It is a quaint small restaurant. No parking lot so have to park against the curb. The gentleman that greeted and took our order was very kind and patient. It seems he does it all because after he took our order and others who came in after he went into the kitchen to cook all our orders.

My hubby and I got the lunch specials. His was the 1lb burger with cheese. I got the 1/2lb.

The lb is two 1/2lb meat patties. They were cooked well done and had a good amount of salt and pepper. They tasted good and fresh.

Fries are homemade and are tasty but they aren’t crispy they have a droop to them when you pick them up. The onion rings are potent cause they aren’t sweet onions. With that said, they are crisp and tastedelicious. They have some type of seasoning tossed on them.

Overall, it is a great local burger joint. Next time I plan on trying their chili cheese dogs!

I’ve heard lots of good things about The Lord’s Kitchen and it did not disappoint! When I walked in I was greeted with friendliness and professionalism.
I ordered the burger and fries.
Both were hot, fresh and seasoned well.
I especially liked the seasoning on the fries.
I ordered chili to go and it was delicious!
What a wonderful, eclectic “hole-in-the-wall” place…that’s how you know the food is tasty!

Absolutely great burger juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. You can tell real care goes into the food here. Huge props to Roger, who somehow manages both the front and back of the house all by himself and still delivers top-quality service and food. That kind of work ethic and consistency deserves serious recognition. If you’re thinking about getting a burger here, do it you won’t regret it.

It been many years since I have visited and wanted to come back to see if the burger was still as good as it was before.

It definitely is the best non-chain burger in San Antonio. I always try new places, and recent burger rankings had me trying overpriced and underwhelming burgers.

It was good to see how this business is still serving up well seasoned burgers on toasted buns with fresh cut fries.

I heard that they also serve these burgers at sports and music events, so if you see them there, definitely stop and treat yourself.

A San Antonio icon. One of the best burgers in town. I’ve been here a few times over the years. Had the half lb w/cheese. Great quality. Gotta be honest, fries were a bit soggy.

A quaint place off the beaten path that’s more than worth the venture.

Pretty simple with a few decorations here and there of old toys, posters, photographs and more. It’s not overly crowded but not so bare that it feels cold and empty. There’s definitely more than enough room for everyone to be comfortable and have their own space as well as maneuver around comfortably so it’s pretty cozy inside whether your with a large or small group. Definitely not meant as a party kind of location but still has an aura of supporting a sensible good time with loved ones. There’s indoor and outdoor seating although when we visited the indoor seating was the only thing available since it was too hot outdoors). It’s located in a very quiet space so it’s pretty serene during the day which makes it nice as a little gather and chat space.

Most burger places I’ve had were definitely good but this was one of the first places that actually made me take a photo of how I actually cleared the meal as an account of how good the food is. We both got a typical cheeseburger (I believe we had the 1/2lb burger) and a side of fries so it wasn’t anything crazy or special, but the flavor and juiciness of the burger paired with the slightly sweet toasted buttered bun and the crispy but light fries were a match made in heaven. It reminded me of the nostalgic taste you’d long after on hot summer days as a kid at cookouts or backyard birthday parties and celebrations; something so simple yet done exceptionally well and sparked immediate joy in me with each bite. Of all the burgers I’ve had I feel that this is definitely one of the best that I’ve ever had and left a lasting impression on me to want to go back for more and try the other items on their menu.

Friendly and welcoming, they made us feel comfortable while also making some small talk. They were also very open to feedback and actively wanted to know how the customers felt from their experience and how they enjoyed their meals. Interactions were fairly brief, but they were helpful and remained with open arms to all.

If you’re looking for a really good burger or just need a peaceful place to grab a bite, then this is the best place for you!
