The plov was incredible — tender meat, perfectly cooked rice, and sweet carrots just like it should be.
The manti were juicy and full of flavor, and the samsa had that perfect flaky crust with a rich filling and tasty sauce.
Even the borscht was amazing — hearty, creamy, and full of meat.
They serve tea in a little metal teapot — such a nice traditional touch.
The staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Great spot for a family dinner or to bring friends. We’ll definitely be back!
A fantastic first meal in Maryland, and I’m definitely hoping to return before I leave Baltimore.
Anybody have an appetite for authentic Uzbek cuisine after this?
By the way, there is an authentic Uzbek restaurant up the road that you can try and may be better; Oasis.
The place is absolutely disgusting from how it once was. Food quality is non-existent at this point. People have gotten sick from eating at this place. The health dept. needs to and will get involved.
Definitely going back. Salad, main dish, kabobs were all excellent. Forgot to order the veggie kabob but will next time. Prices are fantastic too. Been to a few of these places but this one is by far the best.
We had a loaf of Uzbek bread. It looked like a very large bialy, and it was very good. I had a samsara appetizer, a triangular pastry filled with minced beef, pastry, and spices, excellent. Then I had a shurpa, a traditional Uzbek soup with lamb, chickpeas, and vegetables. Finally, I had manti, dumplings filled with either beef, pumpkin, or potatoes. I chose potato.
My meal was excellent, and the price was reasonable. My only complaint is that there was trash on the sidewalk outside the front door of the restaurant, and there’s not a wheelchair accessible entrance.
Paying the bill was interesting. The bill had a QR code. Pointing my phone at the QR code and clicking on the resulting link brought me right to the page where I could pay with a credit card.
