Flavor and Taste: Could be better
Portions: Small
Price: On the High side per portion
Service: Decent
Atmosphere: Simple
I was a bit disappointed at the food, flavor, portion size and the price. Let’s start off with the portion size. it is small. Compare to other places. it’s much smaller. Which brings the price to be a bit high for the portion size.
Now the Flavor. It’s a bit blend. All the dish we order could use more flavor.
Sizzling Sand Ginger Chicken (啫啫沙薑雞煲). 2 issues with this dish. it’s not sizzling. it’s not cook in the small clay pot, but rather, it’s cooked in a pan and switch to the clay pot to serve. No Sand ginger flavor. not a bit.
The preserved meat and sausage cauliflower (腊味炒菜花), it is steamed too long. the veges are all soggy.
The beef brisket pot, again, it’s not well cook in the clay pot, and the brisket could have more flavor. Portion is way too small.
Steam egg (蒸水蛋), I wish it can have a bit more flavor and possibly can use some soy sauce topping it.
The Chang Fun (腸粉)itself is good, I really like it, but the topping, Liver is over cooked and too hard.
Watercress in Broth (上湯西洋菜), this is good, just the portion is too too small
This is my first time at this restaurant. I’m Cantonese American and been eating dishes all my life mostly from home cooking. Thought I gave this place a try. Honestly my mother can make it better.
Signature freshly made rice noodle rolls
We ordered the rare to find salty eggs flavor and it was great!
Must get clay pot rice soup noodle, comes with 3 toppings of your choice for only $16
Ginseng with silky chicken soup cooked for hours
Cantonese style pan fried pork ribs are flavorful
Basil beef clay pot comes sizzling
Hong Kong style lemon tea and coffee
We ordered three dishes:
• 肠粉 (Cheung Fun) – 2/5
This was very different from how it’s supposed to be made. It didn’t taste terrible, but it was far from authentic.
• 牛腩汤河 (Beef Brisket Rice Noodle Soup) – 2/5
The rice noodles were acceptable, but the beef brisket and vegetables were completely wrong in taste and texture.
• 腐乳生菜 (Lettuce with Fermented Bean Curd) – 0/5
This dish was a total disaster. Traditionally, this should be made with 通菜 (water spinach), but they used 生菜 (lettuce) instead — and not even fresh green lettuce, but yellowed lettuce. When I pointed this out, they argued that the yellow lettuce was “more expensive,” which is simply not true. This felt dishonest and showed a lack of respect for customers who know Cantonese cuisine.
Overall, they use the cheapest ingredients and do not prepare the dishes correctly. This is not real Cantonese food. Not recommended at all. I will never come back.
updated July 2025:
Restaurant has changed hand, while I missed the old restaurant, the new one is just as good. Although the cuisine has changed from Vietnamese to Cantonese.
We were NOT told at first the free refill is only for once!!!
Anyhow, check the pictures posted outside of the restaurant and the actual dishes.
I post them here!!!
