I ordered and picked up a tiffin yesterday, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. I found a large piece of plastic in the baingan bharta. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this is a serious health hazard. If someone had eaten it, it could have caused choking or other health issues. I’m also concerned about how much plastic may have melted into the curry while cooking.
Food safety should never be compromised. I hope the restaurant takes this matter seriously and improves quality control to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

My family and me, we had great time with such warm hosts and staff at this restaurant. All food items were authentic in taste. Chowmein, newly introduced Tawa Kulcha were exemplary.

P.S: Don’t miss their proprietary spring rolls.

I absolutely love HomeTaste! My wife and I make it a tradition to enjoy their samosas almost every other weekend — they are honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. Always fresh, crispy, and packed with amazing flavor.
Their tiffin deals are also fantastic. The quality and quantity are both excellent, and you truly get great value for the price. The food tastes homemade and authentic every time. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious Indian food! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Please make sure to check your food before getting it from here. Sometimes you get plastic from curry, missing cutlery, curries are spilled and sometimes you dont even get roti. Although food is nice but most of the time there is either something missing or food is not good in quality. It was good before now feels like quality is dropping exponentially. Even after letting server know what i want i get wrong orders. Had to switch to a different restaurant.

The taste of all dishes are amazing (we were a group of 10 people and everyone ordered something different). The quantity is very generous. A must visit place if you are in Waterloo region. Its a little difficult to find as its in a residential building (1st floor/Ground floor). Ample parking so no need to worry about the parking

Absolutely disappointed. I ordered a large thali for $14.99 and the curry portions were hilariously small. I actually laughed when I opened the container because I thought something was missing. Calling this a “large” thali is misleading at best and a rip-off at worst. For the price, the portions are unacceptable. Won’t be ordering again.

HomeTaste in Waterloo is a delightful spot for Indian and Hakka Chinese cuisine, especially if you’re a fan of appetizers. Their spring rolls are hands-down the best—crispy, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. They’re an absolute must-try and worth going back for.

While the appetizers shine, the main courses don’t quite hit the same mark. The thali, in particular, could be more flavorful and better reflect the richness of authentic Indian spices.

Still, the friendly service and warm atmosphere make it a pleasant dining experience. If they elevate the flavors of their main dishes, HomeTaste has the potential to become a go-to favorite in Waterloo.

Happy Eating

I had the pleasure of dining at Indian Home Taste, and it was an absolute delight! Every dish we ordered was packed with authentic flavors and a true taste of home.

The Dahi Papri Chaat was a standout—crisp, tangy, and perfectly spiced, with just the right balance of yogurt and chutney. The Cold Coffee was refreshing, creamy, and an ideal complement to the meal. The Mix Veg Paratha was soft, well-stuffed, and paired wonderfully with the accompanying dips. To finish, the Gujiya was a perfect sweet treat—crispy on the outside and filled with a deliciously rich and flavorful stuffing.

The quality of the food and the warmth of the service make Indian Home Taste a must-visit. Whether you’re craving traditional Indian street food or hearty homemade dishes, this place is a winner. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

I ordered the $14.99 large thali, but the quantity was very disappointing. The curry portion was barely more than a 4 oz container, which is not what I would expect for a “large” thali.

I do appreciate that they include raita and a sweet, but that was only one gulab jamun and raita in a very small (around 2 oz) container, along with just two small chapatis.

The taste was good, no complaints there, but for $14.99 the quantity is way too low. This is not what I expected.

Also, they do not mention container sizes on Uber, which makes it hard to know what you’re actually paying for. I will never be ordering the large thali again. Overall, good taste but poor value for money due to very small portions.

Thank you for responding. My concern is not about your internal costs, but about customer expectations and transparency. When a customer pays $14.99 for a “large” thali, receiving everything in 4 oz containers does not reasonably qualify as large, regardless of how it is measured internally.
If all items – curries, raita, and sweet – are served in 4 oz portions, then listing it as a large thali is misleading from a customer’s perspective. In that case, it would be more honest to remove the “large thali” option on Uber and simply list it as a regular veg thali, so customers know exactly what to expect.

Also , the justification about costs and internal arrangements was unnecessary. As an owner, a more customer-centric and empathetic response acknowledging the smaller portion size would have been appreciated, instead of immediately becoming defensive.
My review reflects my genuine experience and based on this experience, I will not be ordering again.
