Absolutely the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. And I’m a guy who eats out a lot.I consider this my public service to the community to WARN others so you avoid what I went thru.

Reasons this smashburger is horrendous:

*  Ridiculous Wait Times: Waited about 45 minutes for two simple burgers.

*  Terrible Service Flow: I watched at least three people order AFTER me, get their food, finish eating, and leave while I was still sitting there waiting.

*  Zero Urgency: When I politely asked about my food 30 minutes in, the staff was nonchalant.

*  Got Ripped Off: I paid extra for bacon and they didn’t put it on the burger. They took my money and didn’t provide what I paid for.

*  Disgusting Atmosphere: The restaurant literally smells like a restroom. It stinks.

*  Low Quality: The burgers were some of the worst I’ve ever had.

*  Review Integrity: Some of the 5-star ratings look extremely “sus”—likely padding/incentivized reviews.

*  Total Regret: I should’ve returned the burgers for a refund and gone to any of the better restaurants nearby.

*   BOTTOM LINE: I do NOT recommend this place. If you do go and your experience is bad for any reason, don’t settle—return the food, demand a full refund and head to another much better restaurant near by.

FULL STORY: I first tried sharing my experience on the day of my visit Saturday 01/31/2026, but it seems this platform had trouble ‘displaying’ it due to some of the more “colorful word choices” I used. So I am sharing a “cleaner” version here because all potential customers need to know what this place is like before visiting.

So I was there on Saturday, ordered two simple double deluxe burgers from the menu, one with bacon. Got the receipt at 1:12pm but didn’t get the burgers until 1:55pm. What made the ridiculous wait time even worse was watching them serve at least three people who ordered AFTER me. They finished eating and left while I was still there waiting. I was courteous to the cashier, said thank you and everything. I politely asked about my burgers 30 minutes in, but she just nonchalantly said one more is coming. No urgency at all. My mistake was being too polite initially instead of being more assertive. (I’m always nice to people making my food so they don’t mess with it, you know).

To make things worst, I checked the burgers and there was NO bacon. They straight up ripped me off. I paid extra for bacon, they took my money, and then didn’t put it on the burger. After waiting 45 minutes for two simple burgers, they still screw up my order and didn’t give me items I paid for.

I told the cashier, she said she’ll get the bacon, but I was so infuriated at that point I didn’t want to wait in that stinky restaurant anymore. Seriously, the place smells like a restroom. I noticed others had mentioned similar online, and they weren’t kidding—it stinks in there.

The burgers are terrible, sloppy and over priced. I’ll let the pictures speak for themself.

I also noticed some highly unusual patterns in some of their 5-star reviews. Some of the positive feedback feels coordinated and there are clear indicators which I won’t point out specifically so as to not tip them off. It looks like typical padding / incentivized reviews to artificially boost their rating which should be reported to the FTC, Google, Yelp…etc as deceptive marketing.

This awful restaurant experience wasted my time and ruined the rest of my day. I’m going out of my way to WARN others to potentially save you from the horrendous experience I went through. After thinking about it, I should’ve just got a refund and went to any of the many other better restaurants nearby. I would avoid going back there at all cost. If anyone is planning to go (which I absolutely DON’T RECOMMEND) and your experience is bad for any reason, I would return the burger, ask for a full refund and go to any of the other much better restaurants nearby.

Our first time trying. The food was delicious. Fresh and prepared nicely. Our only issue was the service. The young lady that took our order didn’t listen. My wife and I told her exactly what we wanted and thought we paid for. But what we got was half the order. So we had to place a second order. Also the young lady asked if I’d like whipped cream on my milkshake. When I said no she brought over the whipped cream and left on my table. Once again she didn’t listen.

Had tried a sonic smashburger in the past it truly is not the same. I got the Bacon smash burger with the smash fries. They were excellent. The burger was very tasty and not too big as to weigh you down. Very fresh quality ingredients. I will be giving my local smash burger a try pretty quick to see if it matches up. Good Job guys

To the Owner of the Smashburger – Carson Location,

I’m writing to share my experience visiting your store today, and I hope this message reaches you directly, as my concerns are about the management and staffing of this location—not the two employees who were doing everything they could.

I originally placed an Uber Eats order, which was suddenly canceled. I called the store, and the employee informed me that the system was down and that Uber Eats orders were not being processed. I asked if I could place an order over the phone instead, and he said yes, but payment would have to be in cash due to the system issues. I told him I would call back shortly, but when I called again—multiple times—no one answered.

Because of that, I decided to drive to the location. When I arrived, the store was completely overwhelmed. There was only one person at the register and one cook in the back, even though it was a busy Sunday. There was a long line of customers waiting to order, a group waiting for food that had been sitting out and getting cold, and pickup orders that hadn’t been handed out. It was clear the two employees were severely understaffed and doing everything they possibly could.

I placed my order and returned after 15 minutes. While my food was ready, both of my shakes were missing. I then had to wait another 15 minutes for those to be made. The crowd continued to grow, and customers were getting frustrated because no one was being helped promptly. Even the cook had to come out to hand out orders.

This was my first time visiting this location, and I came because of the great reviews online. Unfortunately, my actual experience was the complete opposite—not because of the employees, but because of the lack of staffing, support, and management.

My question is: Where is the owner or manager? How is it acceptable to have only two employees running an entire restaurant on a busy Sunday? These workers should not be left alone to carry the full weight of the store with no support.

I truly hope you take this feedback seriously. With proper staffing and management, this location could be great—but the conditions today were unfair to both employees and customers.

I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. I absolutely love their hotdogs. The st a ff was so customer service oriented. As someone who works in the customer service field, I appreciate when I receive excellent service myself. Chell, one of the staff, was friendly and attentive. My husband, who never comments, noted how much he liked the service. We will be returning in the future. Thank you to your staff!!

April’s service was awesome. Normally, I have an issue explaining substitutions but she understood at first try! We decided to dine in, wait was not long at all. Beverage area and table we sat at was clean as well.

Julian the manager was great. Even though it was late he still took our order with such gratitude and enthusiasm. He also answered our questions to the best of his abilities granted it being our first time to smash burger. The part that I am most grateful for is when asked what sides we would like they were so many options which we wanted to try multiple but we compromised and choose the waffles fries and smash-fries. Thank you Julian and Carlos for the amazing service and food. Definitely going back thanks to you both.

I had never been here… and of course with my one and only had a delicious Burger with Brisket and some delicious bbq sauce with an order of haystack onions and a chocolate shake…the service was great and the place was nice too…highly suggest tables getting cleaned after customers leave. He had a regular Classic burger with veggies inside it..mine had no veggies but both burgers were cooked perfectly. Mine was juicy and grease where it was needed…cheddar cheese and bacon too couldn’t beat that smash will definitely return to this place when craving for a juicy burger! Plenty of parking and outdoor dining available too…service was great very polite and courteous❤️

I wanted to express my gratitude to Jimaya(sorry for the spelling), the person at the register during our visit. When we arrived, there was a sudden influx of customers, causing a slight delay in the kitchen. Despite the challenging situation, she remained composed and handled the matter with professionalism. The food and service was top tier. Julianne is the best and goes above and beyond. J provided quality service and professionalism. The cook made my food correctly . I love closer to the Manhattan Smash Burger but I come to the Carson location. I’m scared to switch the staff and cook may not be as great as the Avalon restaurant. So I do not risk it I stick to this location. TY Julianne for a great meal and experience I’m African American and have never met J. The staff that was at this location in the past were also great during my last visit before this Friday visit yesterday….
