I don’t usually right bad reviews. The food is great, I have no complaints about that. BUT, I’ve ordered food twice online there. The first time we ended up getting our food about 45-60 minutes after it said to come pick it up which is so crazy. The people working there were going so slow and I talked them 2-3 times to ask when it would be ready. It wasn’t even that busy. When she handed me my food I told her that we had been there for about an hour waiting and she didn’t say sorry or anything. I vowed to not come back until my girlfriend convinced me otherwise (how could you say no). She showed me a deal that was only on the app so I risked it and ordered some more. We ordered it at 5:15 and asked to pick it up at 6, which I thought was reasonable. 45 minutes to make 2 salads and a large chips and queso. We show up at 6, when it told us to show up, and we get our food at 6:30. It also didn’t have any chips and queso in it so we had to go back and ask them. I hate to do this but Im unhappy, my girlfriend is unhappy that waited with me both times, and other reviews seem to say the same thing. Ill come back someday but something needs to change. Cafe Rio, goodbye.

Pretty standard cafe Rio chain! We had a family with us who only spoke Japanese and the staff were patient and nice while ordering. The song choices were fire as well—I can’t remember the last time I heard not one but two stray kids songs play on restaurant speakers, not to mention Kpop Demon Hunters songs! Whoever had that aux is goated. The food itself was as expected, nothing amazing but pretty good.

I ordered online for my food to be ready for pick up by 6:30 and they didn’t start making it until 7:15 and we finally got our food at 7:30. We stood in line for 30 minutes and I had to ask about my order and they still didn’t get to it. They were out of steak, which is fine, I get that, but they asked me twice if I wanted a substitute and about 20 minutes passed between them asking. If I could have canceled my online order, I would have but it didn’t give me the option to. They filled the horchata twice while I was there, which I paid extra for, but they couldn’t be bothered to go get more when there were people standing around like they were lost. We weren’t the only ones that this happened to. The food tastes great, but was definitely not worth the wait. It still should not have taken them an hour to make a salad and a burrito. They didn’t even make the salad or the burrito as big as they normally do and the large guacamole cup was half full.

I have been eating at Cafe Rio since I was younger and the customer service has always been a make or break for their locations. At this location, it is a make. Joe in particular was fast, friendly and understanding. I won’t be the first to say that I am not the easiest customer. However, this location truly puts the customer first and wants to do so in a timely manner. Their food is not going to knock your socks off but they will deliver good food woth great customer service. The atmosphere they make is great, but the seating is sub par. Definitely a place I would suggest!

I did an Online order from the app at 5:38 for a 6:30 pickup time to give them plenty of time to make ahead. Order wasn’t in hand until 7:02. They didn’t start the order until 6:36, and by that time I guess they had run out of rice and had to make more.
I totally understand that restaurants are busy on weekends, which is why we scheduled online well in advance. What would have made everything ok would have been having any employee stop and acknowledge the mishap and offer some way to make it better. I’m from out of town, and other Cafe Rio restaurants I’ve been to have at least offered a drink, meal coupon, or discount on the meal. Nothing here. A dismissive “Sorry we’ve been busy” was the only comment I got the entire experience. Super disappointing.
I do love the food. But I sadly wouldn’t recommend this location.

I usually have great experiences at Cafe Rio, and I’m not one to write a review but the service here was terrible. I had an online order and everything was fine they called me to let me know they ran out of the meat I wanted and we replaced it? and the girl I spoke to was sweet. However, my husband went in to pick up my order and it was the complete opposite for him. He waited for about 10 minutes until someone helped him, no big deal, what was not okay was that the girl that gave him my order was rude and impolite she threw the bag on the counter for him as well as the drink. I won’t be ordering from here again

Worst. Salad. Ever. 0 stars is more appropriate or negative stars. When I removed the handful of unchopped lettuce from my poorly made salad it was more than half empty and thrown together. For how much I paid for this salad this was the worst salad I’ve ever had. Barely any meat, rice, toppings, etc. Honestly the pictures look better then it actually was, which is awful. Absolutely will never be ordering from here again and will be letting other know that if they want food that meets the quality of the high price they’re paying for to not go here.

Usually don’t have too much of an issue with Cafe Rio but my last visit made me question if I will be a returning customer. Online order said food would be ready @ 6:10pm. I waited until just before 7pm before my name was called for pick up. There seemed to be minimal urgency for web orders. I had counted how many people were waiting on orders with me. 12 people including myself were waiting at the Pick Up station. It was a mess. The Pick Up shelving was not being utilized and when customers (including myself ) ask what the hold up was the reply was “ I don’t know I’m sorry”. What can be improved so that web orders as well as walk ins can be tended to better and equally?

I always order in the app, and every time it says it is ready, I go in to just wait 15-20 minutes! Most times they make me choose a different meat too, a less expensive option than what I paid for. My husband went in to pick up our order that was “ready” at 8:06 it is now after 8:20 the allotted time and they are taking care of everyone in line first. I thought ordering through an app was more convenient to those who didn’t want to go in. Guess not.

Extremely Disappointed with Café Rio in Rexburg. I wouldn’t give any stars if that was possible.

I am absolutely furious with the service I received here. I ordered online and arrived on time, only to stand there watching my food sit on the prep table for over 15 minutes while multiple staff members walked around and ignored it. They were not short-staffed — they just didn’t care. By the time someone finally decided to assemble my order, everything was completely cold.

To make matters worse, I paid for chips and queso and was given maybe a quarter of a bag of chips — a total joke for what I was charged. After waiting over 30 minutes from the time I ordered, I ended up with a cold, disappointing meal that was clearly neglected.

There’s absolutely no excuse for this kind of service. I’ve eaten at other Café Rio locations that take pride in their food and customer experience, but this Rexburg location was lazy, careless, and disrespectful of customers’ time and money.

I was on my way to a function so I didn’t have time to wait for them to remake my meal and I didn’t want to have it made by someone who gave such a lack of care the first time.

I will not be returning, and I hope management takes a serious look at what’s happening behind that counter, because it’s unacceptable.
