Desposito’s began as Walton’s Seafood, a humble market that catered to locals and Tybee Island visitors. The Thunderbolt property was purchased in the 1960’s by Italian dockworker Carlos Desposito. After his passing in 1982, wife Walton and stepson David Boone took over the operation to keep Desposito’s dream for casual, delicious local seafood alive. After extensive renovations and the addition of a large river view bar lead by Michelle Smith, managing partner, Desposito’s legacy continues today. It’s still a favorite where friends and family gather for good times, great company, and the freshest seafood around.

I read in past reviews. Glad to try it myself and make my own decision.
Happy to be here and happy to be back at Desposito’s. Will make a return visit!
Bring on the Hush Puppies!!!!
The only issues we had was with our server. This guy needs to find a job soon else. We got a couple of beers which came in cans. The can lids were dirty. He didn’t ask if we wanted a glass, so I had to find another way employee to get glasses. The glasses were filthy. So after they cleaned them I went to have a drink. After we finished our meal we sat around waiting for the server to return which he did not. I found him at the front of the house sitting on the waiting couch hitting his vape and surfing his phone. Servers can make or break a place.
Incredibly fresh seafood, generous portions, great prices, and that great view right by the water. The shrimp tacos, fried shrimp, and lobster mac are always perfect, and the staff here consistently treats you like family.
I’m also genuinely thrilled that the trashy, cheap, plastic-tasting chicken and cheese egg rolls have been taken off the menu. The people who are mad they’re gone are the same ones who wear their “nice Sunday jeans” to Applebee’s after church. Their removal makes the entire menu feel cleaner, higher-quality, and more in line with the amazing seafood Desposito’s is known for.
If you want honest Lowcountry seafood done right, this is the place. Highly recommend.
I forgot to take photos because our food was soo amazing!
I took a little time to write this review because I encourage you to pin this as a detour for a great family owned restaurant.
