This was the worst food ever and I couldn’t eat it. I was very surprised and disappointed. I ordered General Tso’s chicken to go. There was no real edible meat, only little nuggets that consisted mostly of flour or batter. Any meat found inside was tough and stringy. The sauce was just poured on top after the “chicken” was placed in the take out container. The reviews were mixed and I was hoping for the food they served many, many years ago. I won’t return.

My family loves this place! I had the Ma Pa Tofu. It was full of yummy flavor and fun mushrooms. My husband had the Bulgi Ki Beef. The sauce was light and delicious. They have great authentic options and your standard American chinese.

They gave me the old menu marked with different prices and did not let me know the menu has updated or even offered to give me the new menu. When i ordered i told them i wanted Mongolian chicken, 2 egg rolls, and an egg drop soup. The soup and egg rolls were marked as $3.50 in the menu i was given and when i received my check i was charged $5.50 for both my soup and egg rolls. $5.50 for egg rolls is kinda crazy when there are not even homemade in house lol. I did not receive my mongolian chicken either. They gave me mongolian beef but im not one to complain so i shut my mouth and ate it. When i asked the manager about the prices he told me to look in the new menu lol when this could’ve been avoided if he gave it to me from the start. I see why there are so many bad reviews since new management but i can understand why now.#falseadvertisment #dobetter

The only reason I give one star is because of our server. Save your time and money and just go to Dollar scoop in Columbus. Their sesame and orange chicken was basically store bought chicken with sauce dumped on top. After we received our plates we let it be known that we didn’t want that slop. The lady insisted that we paid for it anyway. I may have had ever right to act up, but I did not. I only paid for what was touched after making it clear that all of the food was trash! The new owners are cutting corners and it’s sooo obvious. Never going back, I used to love this place back in 2018. Over priced and over rated now!

A good experience overall. Apparently they are under new ownership. Egg drop soup is still the best in town. The mongolian chicken is different than the older recipe. Will try them again soon. They could use the business.

I guess this place will never be as good as the original owners. I had a pick up order for jade beef, crab rangoon, and eggs rolls. The portions for the jade beef were very little. It used to fill the container. The food did not taste great, at all.

Smelled terrible!!!
Egg drop soup was delicious. Orange chicken was very different. My son did not like it. My family did not like the food. I only ate my pineapple chicken because I didn’t want to be hungry later. The crab Rangoons did not taste fresh. The waitress was very friendly but kinda pushy.
The worst part was the smell! We couldn’t figure out if it was a lot on cleaner on top of cigarettes. I think the diffuser at the bar was to cover bad smells.I wanted to walk out as soon as I entered but was with a group. It was horrible. I was ready to get out of there. I will not go again.

Rarely do I do this. But I absolutely cannot just let this ‘sit’. The food that I discuss below is secondary to the way this man handled employees

Tonight. I had the following unfortunate experience at China Garden in Phenix City. I have been a customer of china garden for over 30 years but tonight may have ended that portion of my life.

Kelli called in an order and I went to pick it up. When I arrived and waited for the order, an order was brought by a young woman from the back.

The man at the front desk saw the bags and was clearly upset.

What followed was a five minute dressing down in an angry fashion of said young woman.

He told her that she had packaged the order in two bags rather than one and it cost them more money than it should because of the extra bag. The young woman stood there for the five minute period and several times reminded him that she packed it the way he had trained her, and he abruptly cut her off each time. This was not a situation that was his normal voice. He was louder than necessary and it was embarrassing for not on in the young woman but all of us watching it go down.

When turning around, she said, here’s the order with sweet and sour soup.

He turned to me and I said, is this my order and he replied yes. I responded; ‘she just said that it was hot and sour soup and I ordered egg drop’. He (again abruptly) told me that she misspoke and it was egg drop.

I paid and left, frustrated.

When I got to the car, I checked the soup.

Hot and sour.

I walked back in with the bag and it was determined that not only had I gotten the wrong soup, but the entire order.

He said rudely, you took the wrong order while pointing at me.

He then said, ‘when the order came out, you said ‘this is my order’.

I corrected him and was very specific that I said ‘IS this my order’ and you said yes.

He then grabbed the bag and pulled the r label towards me and said, you should have known this was not your order.

I said, as politely as I could (at this point), I took the order you gave me and you said was mine.

He then told me that I ‘wasn’t paying attention’ and now the other customer didn’t want food that left the building, which cost him money.

At this point, I matched his tone and told him specially said, ‘I really could care less about the food situation, but I will NOT be a party to eat at or patronize a restaurant when employees are treated so poorly PUBLICLY, when tha should be done behind closed doors.

He responded (to get me out the door), take the food and put both bags in my arms.

I began to leave and he said loudly, ‘YOU CAN’T TAKE THIS ONE’. And took the ‘incorrect’ order out of my hand.

I was so over it, I turned to leave and he said, ‘anyway!!!’ To my back.

I shared with him that I certainly hoped he was not the owner and would not be patronizing the location anymore as long as he was affiliated.

The End

Food and Service was ok.. It was a couple of things I seen I did not like. Also I did not like what the owner asked me as I was leaving. I would have not even did a review but as I was leaving the owner/ mgr ask me if I like my food. I replied yes the food was fine. He replied back to me if the food and service was good why didn’t you tip. I said huh, what are you talking about. I left the tip on on the table. He looking and just said “oh you left on table”. I’m assuming he thought just because I didn’t leave a tip from my card I wasn’t going to tip the server. I personally never tip on my card any more due to a server telling a while back when you tip on a card the server have to split the tips with other servers or with the bar at the end of the night. So with that being said, I personally leave cash for the server so they don’t have to split the tip with anyone else. So his assuming l didn’t tip cost him a customer. I will not be patronizing China Garden ever again. That’s not how you do business. You assume something and were WRONG. You don’t dictate How I spend or use my MONEY. That just rubbed me the wrong way.
