Needless to say, given the weight for a reservation time being a month out in advance, that I had high expectations of this restaurant. That was a mistake, because my expectations were tempered by the food that was served there. Now I’m no fine dining snob, but if I’m spending $30-$40 per dish, and with the portion size being as small as it is, i’m expecting no less than the best. And that, unfortunately, is not what I got from the food. We ordered the Focaccia, Tagliatelle a Nido, and Fazzoletto, dishes that were praised in other Google reviews. Don’t get me wrong. The focaccia was actually pretty good, though the crust was a little hard. The dipping sauce was really nice and solid. It’s an olive oil dip with roasted garlic and spices. However, it was not worth the price. The Tagliatelle a Nido tastes almost exactly like what you can get at Due Cucina (Short Ribs Ragu), except slightly worse because the pasta is cooked beyond al dente. Also, at Due Cucina, you can customize the pasta shape, how well the pasta is cooked, etc. Sure, it’s no fine dining, but it tastes almost the same if not even better. For the Fazzoletto, the flavors are definitely something I haven’t tried before; the mushroom ragu is very good and the parmigiano flavor complements it really well. I like to think of this dish as a deconstructed ravioli. Unfortunately, with the olive oil and egg yolk, the dish was so rich that my partner could barely finish it, and felt discomfort in her stomach afterwards. Overall, I believe that Il Nido is overhyped, and I’d rather order something from Due Cucina where the price of dishes are 1/3 of what they are here and are of the same or better quality.

My cousin hosted a private event here earlier this year and Il Nido provided excellent service and incredible food! Every dish from the breads, the pastas, the salads, the desserts all were delicious.
The service was also impeccable. We had various food allergies at our table and each was accommodated with their own unique dishes that were in line with their needs.
The owner was attentive and friendly as was all the staff. Their presence was much appreciated and when asked all of them recommended drinks that delighted everyone!
I’d recommend Il Nido for a tasty night out or a private event without any hesitation.

What a wonderful experience! Impeccable service during the 7:45pm reservation on 2/21–table 35 (our receipt says we were sat with Linda, but for some reason I think her name was Robin). The focaccia was an excellent start, the 12oz cap ribeye was amazing, but the star was the limon butter pasta. Wow, didn’t think any other spot in seattle could compete with Spinasse on pasta. Il nido exceeded on the overall experience and atmosphere. Dinner was complemented with an excellent and reasonably priced amarone which is a rarity. Overall excellent experience and can’t wait to return!

IL Nido – A Perfect 25th Anniversary Celebration

We recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at IL Nido, and it was an unforgettable evening from start to finish. We arrived about 30 minutes early, and the staff graciously seated us right away — such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the night.
To our surprise and delight, we were welcomed with complimentary glasses of champagne to mark the occasion — a beautiful touch that made us feel truly celebrated.
From the very first bite, the food was impeccable. The focaccia bread was warm, soft, and perfectly seasoned — the kind of bread you can’t stop reaching for. The Fazzoletto was delicate and flavorful, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to refined Italian cuisine. The Tagliatelle a Nido was a standout — rich, silky pasta layered with depth and comfort in every bite. For the main course, the 9oz Saratoga Cut Rib Eye was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
We ended the night with the Tiramisu, which was the perfect finale — light yet indulgent, and beautifully presented.
What really made the experience exceptional was the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. Every detail — from the champagne welcome to the pacing of each course — reflected genuine care and professionalism.
IL Nido is the kind of place that makes any occasion feel extraordinary. Elegant, intimate, and deeply satisfying — a perfect spot for a milestone celebration. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to toast to 25 years together.

An incredible dinner at Il Nido — everything was so flavorful and beautifully balanced.

Every dish was impressive, but the polenta and house bread (schiacciata) completely stole the show — both were warm, comforting, and perfectly textured. The polenta was so buttery and creamy it almost melted in your mouth, and the schiacciata had that ideal crisp edge with a soft, fluffy center.

We tried several pastas — tagliatelle, fazzo lobster mushroom pasta, and gnocchi malfettati — and each one was exceptional in its own way. The flavors were deep and nuanced, and the textures were spot on. Everyone at the table had their own favorite, which says a lot about how consistently good everything was.

Other standouts were the black cod with celery and pear, shishitos, and torta di ricotta e plum for dessert — light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal.

Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt cozy yet refined. Easily one of my favorite meals in Seattle — I’d come back just for the polenta and bread.

This was my fifth time dining here, and there’s a reason I keep coming back. Il Nido features a Pacific Northwest-influenced Italian menu that changes seasonally. Their pastas are consistently unique and memorable, and they do a great job at incorporating fresh produce. Now onto what we ordered:

Burrata – I almost always order the burrata and am never disappointed. Every time I’ve went, the preparation is slightly different. This time, the burrata was served in a sauce with stone fruit, basil, and cucumber. The sauce was neither too sweet nor too savory and paired well

Fazzoletto – this featured lobster mushroom ragu with egg yolk over a single handkerchief pasta. This was probably our favorite dish of the night

Salmon – this was the nightly fish special. The salmon was cooked well. I do wish there was more sauce. Also, the plate was generously large for a 6 oz salmon. Years ago, Il Nido offered a duck special with a blueberry sauce that I’d love for them to bring back.

Basil Olive Oil Cake – Loved this dessert. The fresh basil was not overpowering. A good option if you don’t want an overly sweet dessert

Chocolate Torte – My partner ordered this. It was a pretty standard chocolate cake.

We celebrated our anniversary there last night, and it was absolutely magical.

A heart-felt thank you to Lyla, our incredible server, for taking such excellent care of us and for delivering what can only be described as unreasonable hospitality. Your restaurant is truly special. Every bite made me close my eyes and feel like I was on a little vacation.

It was magical to receive this level of service and such a remarkable meal right here in our neighborhood. I’m deeply grateful we chose Il Nido to celebrate our wedding night, our first anniversary, and hopefully many more milestones to come at your table.

Thank you again,
Mike Adams

We had an above and beyond experience at Il Nido. They have a parking lot which makes the transition there so much easier. We went a little hard, and got the focaccia, 2 pastas, the ribeye, polenta and olive oil cake. Every single dish was divine! Our waitress recommended the truffle butter with bread, and bone marrow butter on the ribeye. She also recommended having the polenta come out with the ribeye. She was so right! The interior of the restaurant is darling the service was incredible! This is our new favorite spot!

Il Nido is one of those rare dining opportunities where the cooks’ ability meets the front of house staff’s skill. It’s truly the staff who make this place what it is. Every single meal I’ve ever had at this restaurant has been special and the best ever. I tell everyone I know that this is my favorite restaurant in Seattle and I mean it. I actually hesitate to eat at other Italian restaurants because I know it will be better here. Not that we have to tear others down to prove Il Nido is the best- the food and service do that on their own. I hope you try this place and I hope you then come back again and again. Thank you to every single person on the team that makes this place what it is. I can’t wait to go back!
