We started with the crab croquette with remoulade, perfectly crisp with a tangy kick, followed by the 10g Cavier with crème fraîche, a luxurious, buttery bite. The steak tartare, paired with capers, cornichons, stone-ground mustard, and bone marrow, was rich and impeccably balanced. The highlight was the duck à l’orange, featuring crispy skin, tender meat, and a beautifully bright, citrusy sauce.
Every dish was expertly prepared, showcasing bold flavors and French finesse. A must-visit for lovers of fine dining in Orlando!
*First off, this review is during soft opening and many things are subject to change.*
This French inspired resturant did not disappoint with very strong flavors and well seasoned dishes. The use of herbs and spices were very prominent, especially in dishes such as the potato leak soup and tuna crudo. The appetizers were very good but I will say some more than others justify their price points. Desserts were very good and are not overly sweet which is to be expected from a legit French dessert. Something to keep in mind if you are desiring something very sweet or indulgent.
Staff were all extremely nice, knowledgeable, and engaging. This is a very vital component to any resturant in my eyes. I also noticed the kitchen staff to be extremely focused, but also having a good time in what they were doing. Keep this up! A positive environment will translate into good food and a favorable outcome in service.
The one negative I can say is parking which can be a bit rough for this location. The most reliable way is to use the parking garage nearby which could be pricier depending on the night and time of day. This is no reflection on the resturant itself however.
Overall, this resturant is going to have a bright future ahead of them and I definitely recommend to check it out if you are looking for elevated French cuisine. I hope to return in a month or two to update this review.
The only thing that left a bad taste was the table we were sitting at was not level and it kept rocking back and forth, just a small thing.
Overall I highly recommend giving Chez Les Copain a try.
The restaurant calls itself inspired by French brasseries and the touches are there. Service is great, atmosphere is cozy, and the food presentation is top-notch.
We ordered the steak frites and bouillabaisse. Portions are small, so maybe appetizers for those with larger appetites. I was hoping for an entrecote, but for the soft open they were only service filet steak frites. Because I thought the filet would be a standard size and I wasn’t sure how the kitchen would prepare it, ordered medium well, which was my mistake, since it was a small portion served cut in four slices. Next time medium at the most, medium rare possibly.
Fries were great and the filet nicely prepared. The sauce, to me, was too divergent from the classic entrecote sauce as offered from Cafe de Paris and others – moreover, sauce portion was small. Partner had the bouillabaisse, which she liked, but was less of a seafood with fish soup dish, but seafood with sauce.
Had the apple gallete for dessert, very delicious. Total for two mains, dessert and an after dinner beverage was about $130ish. Am looking forward to the prix fixe offering which should start once the restaurant begins regular operations.
Final remark – I had written a similar review shortly after my visit, but noticed that it had been removed.
