I loved the wall decor, it really transports you to NYC for the brief time you’re there! Reminded me of the times I used to order from the street cart during my time in NY!
Keep it up!!
I ordered three fish, rice, with salad bowls online. By mistake, I tapped barbecue sauce while ordering, but I specifically chose white sauce on the side. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was shocked to see barbecue sauce poured over the fish, rice, and salad.
I calmly asked the cashier if there was anything that could be done to correct the order. His response was dismissive: “No, this is exactly what you ordered online.” Because of his attitude and demeanor, I said okay, oft the store and initially decided I didn’t want the food. After calling my husband, he advised me to just pick up the order.
When I returned, I asked again if I could speak with a manager. The cashier said no manager was available and to come back the next morning. While I was standing there deciding what to do—since no refund was offered or even suggested—I mentioned I might just contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. At that point, the manager suddenly appeared.
The manager told me there was nothing they could do because the order was completed “exactly as placed.” I acknowledged it was partly my mistake, but explained that barbecue sauce was not wanted—and in fact, one of my family members I ordered for has an allergy to it (specifically mustard which is a common ingredient). Instead of showing any empathy, the manager became very abrasive, saying: “If you’re going to dispute it, we’re also going to dispute the charge. It’s your $36 mistake, not ours!”
Although I accept that I obviously tapped the wrong sauce, the entire situation could have been handled with much better customer service. A simple gesture—such as offering to remake one bowl without barbecue sauce, suggesting a compromise, or even speaking respectfully—would have left me feeling valued as a customer. Instead, I was met with hostility and zero effort to resolve the issue.
I’ve ordered from this specific location countless times since their grand opening – I have the app and actually used my points to get $5 off this particular order — but sadly, because of how poorly this was handled, I have decided I will not patronize this business again.
Because of that, I switched to Grubhub and ordered a single bowl at the normal price. Somehow, the original DoorDash order still went through, so when I arrived for pickup, there were two orders waiting for me: one at regular cost and one at almost double the cost.
When I explained what happened to the employee, I was met with silence and then, “What do you want me to do about it?” Every reasonable suggestion I made was dismissed. Trying to meet them halfway, I asked if they could at least honor the promotion so I wouldn’t be paying an inflated price for one bowl. That would’ve left me with three bowls — more than I needed — but at least the cost would’ve made sense. Their response: “If I do that, we’d be out a bowl because we get a rebate from DoorDash.”
At that point, it was clear they had no interest in customer satisfaction or the value of repeat business. I took my Grubhub order at the regular price and left the overpriced DoorDash bowl there. Thankfully, DoorDash was able to refund me after I explained the situation to a supervisor.
The food is average. The low prices and quick service might draw people in, but the lack of care and customer service will push them right back out. I can — and will — do just fine without returning.
