Had a great lunch here, the lamb chops were amazing. No busy so service was very fast and attentive. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for this kind of cuisine. They cater to gluten allergies

Amazing food and great service make this spot a true gem. It wasn’t crowded, which made for a comfortable dining experience, and I even found street parking just half a block away. The food is authentic, flavorful, and served in large portions at very reasonable prices. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying, and it’s clear they put care into their dishes.

The staff were helpful in explaining the menu and guiding us on what to order, which made the whole process smooth. Service was quick, efficient, and no-frills, but always friendly. Generous portions and consistently delicious meals make this my favorite restaurant in Hyde Park.

I recently had dinner at The Nile of Hyde Park, and it turned out to be one of those under-the-radar spots that totally surprised me. Right away, you get a sense that this place isn’t about flashy décor — it’s about honest, flavorful food and a welcoming neighborhood vibe that makes you feel at home.

I started with some warm pita and fresh hummus, and that set the tone right away — creamy, well-seasoned, and just the kind of appetizer that makes you excited for the rest of your meal. The menu here is packed with classics: chicken shawarma, falafel, grilled kebabs, and even traditional dishes like makloubeh that you don’t see everywhere.

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with rice and vegetables, and it was really satisfying — tender, juicy meat with a nice balance of spices. Everything felt like it was made with care and meant to be shared. The lentil soup was another highlight: simple but comforting, and perfect for starting off the meal.

What I loved most was the atmosphere. It’s casual and laid-back, with families, couples, and groups of friends all enjoying their meals without any rush. There’s this sense that locals have been coming here for years — and I can totally see why.

Overall, The Nile of Hyde Park isn’t about trends or pretension — it’s about real Middle Eastern flavors served in a cozy, welcoming space. If you’re craving something hearty, authentic, and full of character after exploring Hyde Park or just want a great neighborhood dinner, this place is definitely worth a stop.

Spent about $25 on the chicken shawarma platter and a side of lentil soup. The shawarma was flavorful, but the meat was a bit dry. Lentil soup was hearty and comforting. Portions were generous, and the staff was friendly. The place has a no-frills vibe, which is fine, but the ambiance could use a refresh. Overall, a decent spot for a quick Middle Eastern bite in Hyde Park.

Falafel was so good that I want to go again. Also their orange fresh juice was. I also loved the falafel sandwich but too heavy for one person. Their hummus with tahini on top was yummy. Service was quick and fast. Would love to go again n again

Dining at The Nile of Hyde Park was a pleasant experience. The service was great. The atmosphere was spacious yet quaint. The authentic middle eastern food was scrumptous! I enjoyed the Jerusalem Salad and the combination platter of Shish Kabob Beef & Shish Tabuk (marinated chicken) served with sauteed vegetables and Middle Eastern potatoes. I would certainly dine here again.

I got two sandwiches: shish kebab and kifta kebab as takeout order. The wait only took 10 minutes and the food came out smelling amazing. I love that it’s filling and delicious. Personally i prefer the kifta kebab. Its perfect for quick meal near campus and reasonably price for hyde park. The sandwich comes with inhouse chips but it would be great if i can sub it for a drink, which might be a better pairing. Would definitively come back and try more items!

I have been patronizing this establishment for over 20 years after being introduced to it by a friend , starting from the older location. The last 2 visits including today’s visit have been disappointing My favorite is and has been the #14 Combination with potatoes and Lebaneese salad as my preferred side.

The dressing for the salad was was watered down which takes away from the character of the salad, usually there are large chunks of tomatoes and cucumber ( basically this was a bowl of lettuce with skimpy pieces of each (see picture). The dinner itself was good but something was missing the squash medley was not seasoned and the potatoes were soft and lacked the crunchy and bit of lemon squeeze ( they were just fried potatoes……. very blah. There is only one waitress…..the same lady that has been there for years everytime I come. I understand she is the only one taking orders and serving which makes her busy but she forgot my drink request after I asked and I still never received it. We only recieved 3 silverware settings and there were 4 of us dining. There were alot of inconsistencies in the service and food that were annoying and plain disturbing.

IT IS JUST NOT THE SAME NILE I USED TO LOVE…… AND SADLY NOT FOR THE BETTER !!!!
