For over 25 years, Willow’s Pizza has been serving and making friends with all generations of families in South Portland, Maine, and beyond. Dave Lengyel, the owner and Chief Caretaker of Willow’s Pizza, is there to greet you by name and if he doesn’t know you, he looks forward to meeting you. A family oriented restaurant, Willow’s loves to serve kids of all ages, lunch or dinner. In fact, Dave now serves third and fourth generations of long time customers. Whether you choose to eat-in our newly expanded dining area or take-out, be sure to say hi to Dave when you see him! Willow’s is a SoPo classic that has evolved with the times! They have great gluten free options, and the food, drinks, atmosphere, and service are top notch. My husband and I recently stopped in for the buffalo chicken pizza and grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was excellent and we especially loved the extra crunch of fresh celery on the pizza!

The calzones are perfect size and very good. The marinara was fresh. Do be cautious when adding fresh garlic to the calzone, it’s very powerful, and only recommended if you truly like garlic. We do.

Excellent neighborhood gem! Never a miss from the wait staff or kitchen and budget friendly. You have the choice of dining in the quiet side or the bar area with that cheers atmosphere. Pics are of my fantastic lasagna and bolgonese.
Update from tonight: new streamlined menu with a lot of favorites (burger, crabmeat roll, shrimp tacos plus several more) now gone. I asked our server about the new menu and she shared that it was due to the kitchen crew losing 4 employees.
My chicken parm was burned on one side, sauce was nondescript and pasta with too much water and lukewarm.
Our meatball sub was mediocre with the meatballs obviously being those frozen type. Not good whatsoever.
The old-fashioned cocktail ordered was odd with something resembling sugar at the bottom of the glass, bourbon, no bitters, and water.
This used to be our local place to dine, but not anymore.

My girlfriend and I eat at Willows at the very minimum once a month. The atmosphere is always lively. They are busy everyday, if that says anything!
The food is great, the drinks are great it’s hard to beat it. The patrons are fantastic.
We tend to go on Thursday nights, that’s our pizza date night. We have had pizza dates at every place in the Portland/South Portland area, and we both always end up here at Willows. The pizza is always perfect, we order it well done as we like the cheese toasted. The best part, there is Zero Pizza Flop, that’s a real thing! Their sauce is incredible! Last night for our drinks we went for the Margherita special, they had a couple different flavors, but why mess with perfection.
We had a couple of those, and our pizza date pizza choice was large pepperoni with capicola on one half, the other half we added shrooms and grilled onions.
As always…Unbelievably perfect!

Willows is a locally owned family restaurant that specializes in Italian food and pizza. We eat there a few times a year and also get takeout. They have entertainment a few nights a week in the dining room. You need to make reservations on those nights.
That was the case last night when we decided to go there for dinner. We were seated in the bar, which has a few booths and a number of high top tables, in addition to bar seating. We were seated at a high top. The chairs had a bar to rest your feet, so it wasn’t uncomfortable.
We started with drinks. My husband just got a soda. I cannot drink right now, but I asked if they could make their drink special – coconut margarita – alcohol free. The bartender did and it was delicious.
My husband ordered the cup of chowder with half an eggplant sandwich. He thought the chowder had a slight vinegar taste to it; I had a small taste and didn’t taste anything like that. He said his sandwich was delicious.
I ordered the lasagna. It was excellent. Just the right amount of spice and a fair amount of meat and sausage in the sauce. It came with a small loaf of bread. Needless to say, I have today’s lunch! Good value at $12.99, if memory serves.
And what is dinner out without dessert? The hubby got the turtle cheesecake; I ordered the lemon cream cake. Both were very good and very reasonably priced at $4.99 each.

Randomly chose Willows while, in from out of town and sight seeing, without checking reviews or really any idea of their menu other than pizza. Proof that I need to fly by the seat of my pants more often!! The lasagna was great and the turtle cheesecake, which I did not need but had anyway, was as well. My server, Julia, was great.

The fish and chips was an excellent choice. The fish was larger than expected. Nice touch by adding the pickle and coleslaw with the huge cut fries.
The service was second to none. We felt at home in the “noisy” side of the restaurant. It was noisy because people were talking and having a great time.
We enjoyed the place and recommend everyone stop for a meal.

It’s real good pizza but it’s only an occasional treat for me… It’s a bit pricey. Other than that, love the pizza.
