My husband and I had the pleasure of our first experience here last night. We enjoyed cocktails, the pork belly and the blue lump crab gumbo appetizers. Both were delicious, but the star of the show was the strawberry souffle! It was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Was it a bit pricey? Yes, but it was well worth the investment! Also, we can’t say enough about our bartender and server, Amber. She was a delight! So sweet, and she gave us the scoop on severall hot spots, as well as a couple hidden gems to check out during our stay!

We visited F&B in South Padre last year and loved it so much that we made sure to come back again during this trip — and it was just as amazing! The service, both then and now, was absolutely top-notch. This time our server was Janette she was amazing!
This time I tried the filet mignon tartare for the first time, and it was incredible — it literally melted in my mouth. For my main course, I had the duck, which you can never go wrong with, and we finished off with a rich, delicious chocolate mousse.
Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service was perfect. Highly recommend this place — it’s definitely one of our favorites in South Padre!

We dined at F&B on New Year’s Eve 2025. It was a +/- experience. First, Marlene was our waitress, she was awesome! One of the best service experiences we’ve had in years! Hustle is her middle name… thank you ma’am, you made the evening! The menu was a chef’s selection 4 course menu, with options for each course. We opted for the wine pairings with each course.

The restaurant was decked out with New Year’s regalia… with balloons, hats, noise makers, at every table… really fun atmosphere! All the staff were decked out fancy, looked great!

For our first course, we selected lobster bisque mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was divine, absolutely fabulous. The lobster bisque was sub-par… while plentiful, the lobster was not fresh, tasted very fishy. The second course of the seafood medley and venison bites was equally Jekyll and Hyde! Venison, superb, tender, cooked perfectly, tasted great. The seafood medley, all super fishy … not fresh! Crab claws mushy too, obviously frozen prior. Oysters pitifully small and warm. Shrimp, while cold, were very fishy and mushy, as if previously frozen. No bueno!

Our third course was the surf/turf and Akashi short rib ragout. The turf was awesome, best steak we’ve had in years! The lobster … pitiful, small, overcooked, tough and fishy! Disgusting! The ragout was good, but we’re not sure why chef’s make beef dishes sweet … good beef stands on its own, no need to over season! Not a well conceived dish…

Our final course was the chocolate soufflé and lemon cake … both were terrific! The soufflé with Chantilly cream and whipped cream was very good. The star dessert was the lemon cake with fresh fruit! Light and airy cake, the fruit was to die for. Delicious!

The wind pairings were good, although some of the selections were “tired” favs, like “The Prisoner”… IMHO. Such a good wine list at F&B, the pairings were disappointing! The staff whisked away a 1/2 finished pre-dinner martini, which Marlene graciously replaced!

When you spend $500+ on dinner for two, even a special evening, the restaurant should deliver. F&B did not meet the standard on New Year’s Eve. We won’t be back this trip..,

We had the most wonderful experience here. Best food on the island by far.

Amber was our bartender and was so great. She made fantastic suggestions! We got oysters (they were from PEI and not the gulf) and they were so good! We also got the rack of lamb which was probably the best meal we have ever had. Everything was cooked so perfectly. I got the seafood pasta which was also great, but we both liked the lamb better!

We had such a great time, we came back a second time and got the filet and short rib pappardelle. Both again were phenomenal.

Definitely make a stop here to get some good food while visiting. We will most definitely we back!

Our server was great although he had another customer with a long list of allergies that delayed service with us. We ended up ordering the tomatoes & burrata salad and artichoke & mushroom salad. Both were much bigger and more filling than we expected. Very tasty, great flavors, very fresh ingredients. My wife and I ordered the Salted Red Snapper (medium sized ~2.5 lb whole fish) because we’d never tried something like that before and we wanted to eat seafood. It’s cooked in a shell of salt, Parmesan, and other spices. Broken out and filleted tableside, the fish was served with a blood orange sauce which was our favorite part. Our son liked the fish without the sauce.

We went as a family group, including my grandson celebrating his first birthday. We made early reservations, and they went above and beyond accommodated our every need . The food was as best as we’ve had with a salt crusted bronzino done tableside. Every dish and every cocktail made to perfection.
I’d like to make one note this is a fine dining establishment. we went there with a toddler, hence the early reservation. We also had a game plan on what to do in case he became irritated. We did not want to disturb other diners .
