Reviews
We went to the Flying Fish to celebrate my niece’s birthday, so we had a reservation and were promptly seated in a family table, long and oblong. The service was attentive and friendly. We ordered both seafood and steak dished as both were on the menu, as well as cheese plate appetizers. The portions ranged from small (the cheese plates) to big (steaks). All were composed plates, although additions could be made like lobster tails or ibérico ham. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes except one that arrived cold, but was promptly taken, refired and presented at the right temperature. We did not have any desserts, but they looked appetizing too. A great family experience!
We checked in and less than a minute later we had a message to say our table was ready. Lovely decor inside with an open kitchen and bar area. We had a table near the back by the window which was good.
Menu is short like all Disney menus and just decided to go for a main course each as planned to eat some desserts in EPCOT in the way back to our car. Bread basket was great – sourdough with soft inside and nice crust. We ordered the NY Strip and Fruti de Mare. Both were good and we enjoyed them though my steak hadn’t been cooked long enough or high enough temperature to get a nice crust on it so that was a shame. Great seafood in my wife’s dish but the size is more similar to an appetiser – I know seafood is expensive but bulking the dish out with more pasta would have helped to make it more of a main course.
Our server was friendly and attentive. So an enjoyable meal but not quite up to its signature restaurant status in my opinion.
We had ordered the lobster bisque to start which was nice, but not entirely my favourite as it tasted abit bitter and arrived lukewarm. That aside though- the rest of the dishes were delicious! Shout out to the crusted new york strip which was divine, and also the sea bass. Dessert wise, I would very much recommend the cheesecake which was divine. All in all, would highly recommend this place for a lovely meal.
Fresh bread and butter were provided promptly and were delicious. Wine list was comprehensive with a heavy leaning to Napa wines. Our server made some good suggestions and the red and white were both on point.
Mussels for appetisers were well presented. Pork bites were the favourite on the table. I personally liked the burrata with the melon which was fresh and provided a variety of flavours.
For entrees, we followed out servers recommendation of snapper, strip steak and sea bass. All were amazing – steak was one of the best I have ever had with subtle seasoning and cooked just right. Snapper was fresh worked well with the potato crust. Even the kids meals (chicken with mac and cheese) were better than average for your average kids entree
We went for a cheese selection with port flight for dessert which did not disappoint – great to see a varied selection of cheeses with explanation of their providence.
Service was good, our server provided good recommendations for both food and wine, however for the price you are paying you would expect exceptional level of service. Small omissions were annoying – don’t place an appetiser plate on someone’s napkin, clear wine glasses away from children, don’t clear the table when people are still eating, bring out the port with the cheese. Whilst minor issues, they should not happen for a restaurant of this calibre.
Overall, great food but the experience not in line with the price point.
Overall, my experience was mediocre. The restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food you receive, as I’ve had similar or better meals elsewhere for less. If you’re on the dining plan, I can see the value. The environment and service are good, but the food is inconsistent—some dishes are excellent, while others miss the mark.
Food
I ordered the ash-encrusted salmon, which was bland and underseasoned. It lacked flavor, and the beet risotto added very little to the dish. Others at my table ordered the Chilean sea bass, char-crusted New York strip, and potato-wrapped red snapper, and I tried each. The New York strip was outstanding—well-seasoned with great texture. The red snapper was also delicious, with excellent seasoning and flavor. The sea bass, however, was overwhelmed by sauce and cream, making it hard to appreciate the fish itself. I would highly recommend the New York strip and red snapper, and strongly advise against the salmon and sea bass.
Environment & Service
The restaurant is beautiful, upscale, and well-decorated. Our waitress was polite, professional, and very accommodating with allergies. However, she struggled to answer specific questions about the dishes and relied on what felt like a rehearsed script. At the end of the meal, she kindly removed the salmon from the bill after noticing I didn’t enjoy it, which was greatly appreciated.
