My very first time trying Indian authentic food and I love it. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and I would love for guys to go eat and support this restaurant as they are great at providing authenticity. The service was great as the food. A recommendation is to know your taste bud and how much spicy you can handle. The butter chicken tastes delicious. Their lamb were cook well and amazing to taste. I will definitely be going back. Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be paying for the rice because it is free but limited.

I was the only person in the restaurant on a Monday holiday. It was a quick 15-minute walk from my downtown hotel. The space has a contemporary vibe. My Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and garlic naan was hot and flavorful. 15% gratuity was automatically added to my bill.

Went this on jun 30,2024. Great spacious and nice ambiance. On top of everything food quality and taste was awesome.
We ordered bhuna ghee goat, dhaniya chicken curry both gravy tasted different and special. The masala was like totally made up get real flavor. Not ready mix masala. Unlike other hotels they use similar curry base and change a bit u don’t feel that difference . Here it’s special authentic taste .
Chicken meat and goat meat was tender.
Unlike other where u get chewee / fiberee meat.
Started chicken ladini kabab was best kebab moist proper cooked and tender chicken.
Don’t miss this Indian restaurant truly authentic.

Excellent Indian cuisine. Best I have had in a while. Went again and tried a bunch of dishes. The food is so amazing. I am already looking forward to next time. I have always heard great things and they were not wrong. The Lamb Shank is an incredible dish. Everything you order is on point. Enjoy this great Indian restaurant. Highly recommend.

This was my first time dining in at Aroma. I have ordered takeout here on three separate occasions. The first two times the food was absolutely amazing and then the third time it was horrible. I knew what it was supposed to taste like because we had ordered from there on two previous occasions, but we were already home so there was nothing I could do. Honestly we didn’t come back for for about two months because I didn’t know which version we were going to get. I was pleased that on this visit the food was to the standard that I expected. They do a great job on food presentation (see pictures), the plates are very nice too. While dining there we were captivated by the dishes other people had ordered. Every time food was brought out to another table we had to look over to see what it was. I think I saw Tandoori Chicken. It looked really good. I may have to try it the next time I come.

Great food & excellent service.

Most Indian restaurants you go to typically tone down the spice level to appease a wider palate. I did not get that impression here. The food taste like it was cooked for the chef’s family.

The price is slightly higher than typical Indian restaurant, and be warned “Hot” is Indian-Hot, not American-hot.

Great place for authentic Indian cuisine. Spacious and clean and easy to find even if you are just driving through the state.

What lets this place down is the poor service. As a group of 8, we almost felt unwelcome and had to literally beg for one glass of hot water. When the staff tells you we don’t have hot water in a place you cook hot food- that’s something!

It’s service like these that makes you think twice if you want to even leave a tip. We did eventually coz the food was great. If the management / ownership of the place is listening, you have some serious work to do to train your staff. The chef has to be really good coz the dishes were on point- both the veg and non veg options. So don’t let poor service take this beautiful place down.

I don’t know enough about Northern Indian cuisine to judge authenticity, but it is undoubtedly tasty and I have it on good authority that the cooking style and flavors are indeed true to form.

I was told by the wait staff that the meat is halal, but others should verify as I could find no signage in the downtown location nor any claims online (plus, there is a bar in the back). The vegetarian dishes were good enough I’m not sure it will make a huge difference for me, but would love to be able to explore the menu more broadly!

Whats good- this is the best of the “Indian restaurants ” in the area.

Whats bad- Takeout is terrible.
Spicy Naan is just Naan with flakes. Not at all recommended.
Potatoe Peanut kofta is terrible. Dont order it.
P.S. Lassi is terrible. It is diluted no fat milk. That is not how Lassi is supposed to be made. It should be taken out from the Menu.

Limited Appetizer options.

Matar paneer is good.

I recently visited Aroma Indian Cuisine and Bar in Indianapolis and was blown away by the delicious food. We ordered the Bukhara Dal and Kadhai paneer, and both dishes were amazing. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the portion sizes were generous. The naan was also perfectly cooked and a great accompaniment to the main dishes.

One downside, however, was the service. There was only one person serving the food, which led to a slower-than-expected dining experience. That said, the location is great, right in the heart of downtown, making it a convenient stop after a day of sightseeing.

While the food is definitely worth the visit, it is important to note that the prices are on the higher side. Additionally, the restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity to the bill, which is a bit disappointing. I believe that it should be the restaurant’s responsibility to pay their staff, and customers should have the freedom to decide how much to tip.

Overall, Aroma Indian Cuisine and Bar is a great option for delicious Indian food in downtown Indianapolis. Just be prepared to pay a little extra and don’t expect speedy service.
