First time there since a breakfast many years ago. It was a very busy Saturday night (Valentines Day). The staff and hostess were managing the crowd admirably. My wife had the meatloaf dinner. It was quite tasty and came out rather quickly for the amount of diners they had. I had the prime rib and was blown away by the portion size and price of the meal ($24.99, had to be close to 14-16 oz.). I would say though that most other times I order prime rib it comes with a little more of a flavorful bark and a bit more tender. It was a bit over done and served on a platter immersed in a lot of jus vs being on the side at most restaurants. Looking forward to trying other offerings in the future.

Oh my goodness! The restaurant, service and food are a 10 out of 10. We drove 1 1/2 hr for lunch at this restaurant. The hot roast beef open face sandwich is the best I have eaten (and I order it every where we go). Hence the 90 min drive. Give it a try…you will be delighted.

We stopped here for lunch on a little road trip. My family and I used to always stop here when we’d visit the area for the summer. I wanted to stop for the nostalgia, and Path Valley did not disappoint! The food is still as amazing as it was 10+ years ago, and the staff are still the sweetest. My bf said that they have the best chicken fried steak he’s ever had. I highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area or just driving by. You will love it!

Stopped in while traveling through and found the service, atmosphere, and food fantastic. The menu was far more significant than we would have anticipated. The 6 of us ordered a mix of sandwiches, burgers, and pork chops. It was all delicious and reasonably priced. We would enjoy stopping back if the occasion ever arises again.

My wife and I have traveled extensively back & forth across the country since our retirement 10 years ago, and one major lesson we’ve learned is to NOT eat at diners because the food is almost always canned, boxed or frozen. YUCK! So we were very apprehensive about eating here at the Path Valley Family Restaurant, which is more of a diner style facility. Being out here in the boondocks of Central PA mountain area we figured this would be our best choice for a place to eat. We are sooooooooo happy we came here. Our food was freshly prepared, and was topped with the bestest gravy ever. And it was apparent that the mashed potatoes were prepared from real potatoes, not dried potatoes in a box. The cole slaw was delicious, and my wife’s chicken croquettes were crispy on the outside and moist & tasty on the inside. Our server was an extremely nice lady who was very patient with us and quite personable. The interior of this restarant was absolutely spotlessly clean and very well maintained. All in all we were thrilled with everything about the Path Valley Family Restaurant, and we’ve added it to our Google Earth places to eat next time we’re driving down the PA Turnpike and need a place to eat in this area.

Really nice travel stop with friendly, spot-on service and generous portions of good-tasting food. I was in the mood for comfort food, something with mashed potatoes. I ordered the chicken croquettes. They were light, crusty balls of finely chopped chicken with a lightly toasted crust and set on a bed of the rich creamy sauce that usually binds the chicken inside the croquettes. This was a nice way to get the rich flavor while having control of the heaviness or the calorie intake. I was, however, disappointed the potatoes were instant. They were light & fluffy, but it’s not the same when you’re looking for the comfort factor.
Overall, it was a good meal and a good value. I would definitely stop again. My companions were very happy with their choices, and we all had leftovers to take with us.

11/29/25 update: New dinner pics.
Remember you have to pay cashier, not the server. But do tip the server.
Local eatery. Hours outside stated until 9 pm on Saturday, but in the vestibule, the hours stated until 8 pm. A couple came in right before 8 p.m., and they were offered to order cold sandwiches due to the grills already being cleaned. The couple decided to leave. Only cash or check is accepted, but there was an ATM on site.
Has a small lunch counter, seating in main area, and a separate dining area in back that could be used for a private event.
We asked for water with extra lemon and only received 1 slice of lemon each.
Each dinner came with 2 sides, but not much on vegetable choices. The salad only had 1 slice of tomato. The stewed tomatoes tasted sweet, like sugar was added. Both the stuffed flounder with crab dinner and the chicken with crab imperial dinner were good, just a little salty.
I like to support local, but they need to be a little less frugal.

Had a lovely tuna salad platter for lunch. There was plenty of crisp romaine lettuce with added veggies, a hard boiled egg, and a generous portion of tuna salad. One of my favorite dishes here. The staff are always pleasant. Can’t go wrong with any meal here!!

The dining area seemed clean but very basic and dated. The food was diner style and in my opinion not really that good. I ordered the roast turkey. It was not slices but looked like pulled pork all stringy and tough. The “stuffing” was just bread cubes . The gravy was gummy. I would have sent it back but I had already asked for something different instead of the salad which was a bowl of overage iceberg lettuce with one small slice of unripe tomato. I took a few bites of the turkey and left it. The waitress seemed tired and harried so I didn’t want to complain. I just decided I would never go there again.
