The Chili was fantastic, the pumpkin chocolate chip muffin was Devine and of course the salted caramel latte was the cherry on top! This is a great place to meet with friends and enjoy a treat.

Cute coffee shop in the heart of Iowa city. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. My white mocha was delicious, the menu seems like there is something for everybody. It is family friendly and looks like it’s a pretty popular spot for the college kids. Will definitely be back!

An Iowa City institution. Coffee and pastries are on point. Usually have been pretty good at fulfilling online orders for pickup. Finding a place to sit can be tough sometimes, but if you get one, you can stay and study for a while. I just wish they still stayed open at night. It used to be a great place to hang or study at night.

I had the worst experience at Java house today! I go there frequently to work and study because I liked the environment and it was good to out of the house. Today they kicked me out of Java house! They said that if I do not buy a drink from them I can’t study there. This makes absolutely no sense at all!!!! As a coffee shop you should be welcoming even if they aren’t buying a drink. If I am a company I would make my space as welcoming as possible and never kick someone out for simply not buying a drink. They don’t care about the customer only there profits. Well guess what I will never be going again and will not be bringing my friends either. So they lost a loyal customer and lost money and their reputation. I DO NOT RECOMMEND JAVA HOUSE TO ANYONE THEY ARE RUDE AND NOT WELCOMING.

Very nice place to visit, study or just rabbit coffee. Grabbing coffee is what we have done each time we are near these Java roasters. This is by far some of the best coffee around! Great service always as well! It does take a bit for a coffee order, just be patient. These people know what they are doing and the coffee is worth the wait!

A perfect example of a coffee shop geared towards the needs of student / young professional environment, where you need comfortable seating, outlets, reliable WiFi, and a steadily available but affordable stream of caffeine directly to your veins. Plus sick designs on the coffee cups, nice.
My friend got a mocha, I was jealous, but I had homework to do so I got the black, and it was delightful still. For what it’s worth, he said he really liked his too.
Only complaint would be it’s kind of a weird order placement / collection situation though, not very intuitive if you’re settled in somewhere and waiting. Sure it’s not an issue if you’re a regular though, so doesn’t count against the final rating.

This used to be my favorite place to study. Now it feels like a checkpoint. Staff patrols the cafe looking for outside drinks or proof you’ve bought something. Otherwise, you’re out. It’s a coffee shop, not the TSA. Relax.

Ordered mobile delivery. The driver only delivered the drink. When I called the store I was told your food is still here. Why wasn’t my food and drink together? Why was I told to “come and get it” and “it would be remade” only offer I was given was a refund for the food so the driver got $5 to deliver a drink…. Cool. Horrible customer service do better and be better and after that do even better than you think you have.

Met up with my college gal for ice lattes and a muffin. The chocolate chip muffin was tasty (and not dry for 4 pm which surprised me) but had more chips that we personally liked. That’s a personal preference and nothing against their muffin.
However, the issue I had were with the drinks. Seeing that they use Monin brand syrups and similar milk/espresso ratios I knew I could order 2 pumps (instead of the usual 4 pumps of syrup) and it should be sweet enough. It was. My issue with the drink is that the coffee was bitter and tasted burnt. Was it that I asked for less syrup? I tried my daughters drink, which had 4 pumps in it, and no — also bitter. So, no, it’s the coffee brand or the machine that is making it that way. I only finished not quite half and threw the rest away. She did not finish hers either. Also, her drink is on the right. It had mocha in it. Definitely no chocolate flavor (or color) at all.
Sorry so low on the food stars but that is what we went there for, not the atmosphere so much. It is fine for studying or meeting up with friends/family. The stars were able to be 4 due to the other two areas I rated though any more I am questioning putting it solely on food/drink because it if doesn’t taste good why go.
If I visit her again we will chose a different place to meet up.

good coffee but not consistent in the slightest. some days the beans are burnt, other days there is far too much syrup, and sometimes its the best latte ever.
its a 50/50 whether you will have a good experience.
I ordered a 24 ounce latte and below is what I got (didn’t drink it yet – it was that empty when they handed it to me). Drink wasn’t filled up and did not have enough ice.
