Such an incredible spot for nuanced and flavorful, comfort food as well as beautiful space for conversation with friends over a Juicy glass of wine. This is old Portland at its finest. This restaurant was one of the first to revitalize downtown Kenton and it is a guaranteed gem For experience and food. The waitress was attentive, but also gave us space to enjoy our intimate conversation. My friends ordered the soup and salad and it looked and smelled delicious and I ordered the risotto with meat and goat cheese and was very happy. I want to go back for more pasta. Their pizza is some of the best and most underrated in Portland! Get in there

I made a reservation for a large (18 people!) party and we had the absolute best experience. The day before the reservation, the general manager called and presented me with the option of a family style dinner with a 5 course menu of dishes of our choice, for a more than reasonable price per person. It made it so much easier to have a smooth, stress-free experience, and we were still able to order any drinks we wanted a la carte. The manager even asked what we were gathering to celebrate and printed out custom menus of our dinner with “Happy Birthday, Grace and Brooklyn!” on the top! This thoughtfulness and care continued throughout the service– our waitress was so accommodating to all of our dietary restrictions, patient with our large party, attentive, and quick. To top it all off, the food itself was incredible, with plenty of variety and all equally delicious. We ended the dinner with dessert, and the staff put a candle in the tiramisu slices that went to me and my friend that were celebrating birthdays. They even boxed up our leftovers for us to take home…the care they took to make me and my friends feel special was unlike anything I’ve experienced at a restaurant before. The staff at Fino went above and beyond anything I would have expected when I made the reservation, and we are so grateful to them for our magical night. Cannot recommend this place enough!

The housemade pastas and care that goes into each dish make this place a “must have and then have again” in the vibrant Portland food scene. I’m always excited to try their weekend specials and new menu items as they never disappoint. The portion sizes are on point and always leave me perfectly satiated, which is something I look for in my usual restaurant rotation! Fino has become my go to for special occasions, hosting out-of-towners, comfort food, and quick pizza slices! If you haven’t had their Italian staples, you’ve been missing out!

Service was terrible. I was literally the *only* person dining in at the time. Server just disappeared – didn’t come to see if my food was ok, I had to find my own salt & pepper, finally when I was long past ready to leave I told them the meatballs were too dense, unchewable, and terrible, and asked them to bring me the check, which they did – including the meatballs. Told them I wasn’t paying for the meatballs which I just told her were terrible (I didn’t even eat 1/2 of 1). They basically told me ‘sorry, not sorry’, so I asked to speak with someone else. Told me their manager wasn’t there, so I told them I’d accept *any* manager. They disappeared again for a good 5-7 minutes, to return and tell me the manager was in a meeting and the back of house manager was cooking (I have no idea who for since there were only 4 other people in the place [up front for pizzas] besides me). Guess they were the only person in the entire kitchen. And the only other manager was in a meeting (whom I saw on the way out and they literally ran from me) was specious.

So the server finally offered to take the meatballs off my check, if that would make me happy. I replied, “No, but I’ll take it so I can get out of here.” I also asked for their managers name and their email address – of which I got neither, an unreadable scribble, and the email address posted on the website.

On the menu there is a risotto with “guanciale and kale sauce” (ewww….and kale is so 2010’s). I asked if I could get the carbonara with some of the guanciale in it. The server said they’d have to ask the kitchen, and here is the bs “answer” they came back with: “The chef feels that the spices they use on the guanciale would *not* go well in the carbonara”.
Me: What spices are they adding to the guanciale?? It’s already smoked, spiced, and cured….??? (In my head I’m thinking they’re adding something extra awful like celery salt or adobo to go with that kale.)

The meatballs were so dense they chewed like rubber, no taste other than cracked black pepper, and the sauce they were in had just pools of grease (see photos). The arancini also highly underseasoned and the nicest one had a whole 3 peas in it and a single strand of leek. The focaccia is served toasted, extra toasty, to hide the fact it seems about 2 days old. The primitivo was served to me at about 80 degrees F, so NO care or respect for the food or spirits, and especially not the guests.

Additionally, they charge a 3% surcharge for insurance for their employees. I don’t know how the restaurant industry has so long gotten away with lower than minimum wage and no benefits which are all required by law for every. other. employer. in the country, and I for one am done lining their pockets when they should be beholden to the laws like everyone else. I won’t be visiting restaurants having this practice and will find out for certain before I go.

The place also doesn’t have nice ambiance – the dine-in area is mostly just bare 2x’s with liquidation tables and whatnot, and the amazing final touch of dead flowers.

Anyway: Would not recommend 1/10. I only gave them a 2 because the AC was on.

Just an amazing place of people who are community oriented and supporters. We stumbled into Fino on a whim and had no idea just how amazing the people and patrons are here. The pizzas and house old fashioned are a must for late night cravings. Highly recommended if you’re looking for community and awesome food, drinks n’ company. Thank you Fino crew!!!

The staff was very friendly, but not very attentive. The rigatoni was absolutely delicious, but took over 30 minutes to come out. It wasn’t even busy. I am visiting the city and this was the first time in wasn’t blown away in Kenton. I do believe the service and food are amazing, but the fact that I watched everyone that arrived after me get their food before I got mine is disheartening.

They forgot about us while sitting in the front patio, so we waited 45 minutes for some pretty subpar pizza and pasta. The seafood polenta was really oily looking and tasted like it from a frozen box mix. The fish that wasn’t burned was really fishy and chewy.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and was pretty disappointed. The wait staff was really nice and it was a Sunday night, so I’d like to give them a pass, but I probably won’t eat there again.

Super yummy Italian food! The pastas were so yummy and portions were great. The pizzas are also perfect. Great place to go if you’re looking for quick Italian food without the “formal atmosphere”.

Blown away by their gourmet pizza! You must try it. So tasty. Perfectly balanced flavors, excellent thin crust with the perfect crisp. Stand out place! Will definitely be going here again. Also great atmosphere, and very friendly helpful staff. They have other dishes besides pizza too that look amazing. Thanks for your Pizza week slice that blew my mind!
