I’ve been to this place several times over the years. Except for the great impression during my first time there, the remaining visits were always good, maybe not amazing. However, when I came back today, it felt like the very first time again. I was truly impressed by the atmosphere, the dishes, and the service. Bravo to the chef and staff at Vietnam Restaurant. Pictured here are the chef’s specialty fried rice and the ONE & ONLY corn pudding I’ve been in love with for years!

One of the OG spots in Chinatown. The aesthetic alone inside is worth the visit in itself. Would be a cute place to take a date and if looking for a spot for elevated Vietnamese food.

What we got:
⭐️ shaken beef – tender, flavorful, and the watercress WOW
⭐️ egg rolls – double fried, I personally love this kind of wrapper
⭐️⭐️⭐️ grape leaf beef – SO YUMMY, would just get take out of this in the future
⭐️ grilled shrimp – crispy and caramelized
– bun bo hue
– salt and pepper squid
– grilled lemongrass chicken over rice (would skip next time)

Our servers were attentive and sweet! They even gave us all forks.

Great spot in Chinatown. Was interested in checking it out since they recently received a James Beard award. The food was delicious and the char on the meats were perfect with the vermicelli. The spring rolls (cha gio) were nice and crispy and served with crisp fresh lettuce. My son got the pho and I had a taste. It was also good. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming and although a little dark, it seemed to add to a swankiness that felt a little nicer than other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. Definitely recommend!

Delicious food, romantic atmosphere, and wonderful service! It was surprisingly not busy when we went on a Saturday around 5PM (only 1 other table) which made us feel sad for them since they deserve to be busy! Because of the dim lighting it does look a bit closed from the outside so I wonder if they added a simple open sign, even just a paper one, if that would help with foot traffic. We have tried a lot of Vietnamese food and the dishes here were truly next level. Our waiter made excellent recommendations as well. We ended up ordering crispy spring rolls, shaking beef, and a pork clay pot. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We were visiting from out of town, but otherwise we would be regulars at this place! Very fair prices for the high quality of food. The next time we visit Philly we will be excited to return.

This is truly some of the best Vietnamese food I have ever had, and I have personally been to Vietnam before. The quality of the food is levels above many other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. You can tell they take the time to cook things properly and with great care- the rolls were so crispy, the noodles were perfect not at all soggy. The taste was outstanding. I cannot wait to come back.

Have been there a couple of times and the quality is excellent! So tasty and good portions. I have gotten the pork vermicelli twice now. We got the pork rolls to split this time too and it’s so refreshing to see those rice wrap rolls without shrimp in it since I’m allergic and love the texture!!! Highly recommend

Very disappointed in the food here. Got a few dishes and only thing I can say is that the food here is super bland. No flavor at all! For a restaurant that is pushing vietnamese food you dont even taste or smell any of the essence that you would think when eating vietnamese.
Pho tasted like it was watered down…..beef lemongrass soup was not spicy enough and the noodles was broken!!! Who breaks their noodles???? Apparently this place. Food aside, the staff was friendly and nice. Would not spend my money here

Great food horrible expereince when I have eaten here like 50 times. Ordered 4 house verm bowls and side of crispy spring rolls to go. Since I live in NJ and would come to Phila just for dinner. Asked to put all spring rolls in one box to keep from getting soggy when they put it in with the verm noodle bowls. Heat makes them soggy. They Use to do this no problem, now I am told the manager refuses to do this? Makes on since i had a side of spring rolls and even offered to pay extra. Was told by china town location no, when asked to speak with manager, said i need to call Penn campus location. For me to ask to put them aside was a basic request, said the manager and Chef said they cant do that. will not return and I guess me spending $150 for dinner with my family they were prefer not to have it… OK horrible expereince! Never

Amazing food. I highly recommend the shaking beef. It melts in your mouth and tastes delicious. Also had the grape leaves as an appetizer and they were plentiful and delicious as well. The drinks were also yummy. I recommend the Zombie.
