I recently visited and was immediately impressed by the outstanding customer service. As a former Houstonian, I felt an instant connection with the staff—your team truly understands hospitality. The ambiance is wonderful and homey; it’s exactly the kind of place I enjoy spending time in. I love that you have outdoor dining.
However, there are a few “devil’s in the detail” moments regarding the food execution:
The Fries: You have the right cut, but they lacked the heat and “crunch” factor. A good fry needs to be served hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I’d recommend a bolder salt profile or even a Cajun seasoning option (similar to the Five Guys style).
The Heat Level: The “spicy” BBQ sauce tasted great, but lacked the advertised kick. If it’s labeled spicy, it needs to deliver on that promise.
The Slider: Using a hinged half-cut hotdog bun doesn’t quite hit the mark for a slider. Transitioning to a high-quality brioche slider bun would significantly elevate the dish.
Presentation: I appreciated the grilled buns—that’s a great touch for flavor. However, the presentation was a bit messy. Using a spatula to plate the buns would prevent the juices (and glove marks) from transferring to the top of the bun. BBQ is messy to eat, but it should look clean when served.
I’ll definitely be back, as the foundation is there. I look forward to seeing these small adjustments on my next visit.
