Terrific vibe! Super collection of liquors! There’re literally 50 pages of whisky (bourbon, rye, scotch, Irish, etc) on their menu. I live in Seattle and have lived Chicago for 15 yrs, travelled many places around the States; I never thought I could run into such a great bar here. This might be one of the best bars I’ve had drinks in. The barkeep is super friendly and definitely knows his stuff. His cocktail creation is also amazing. I would absolutely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice little corner to have an awesome drink.

A group of 11 of us took a cocktail making class here with Casey! It was incredible. We got to learn about the history of the cocktails we made and get behind the bar to make our own cocktails and learn about the tools to make incredible drinks! They were very flexible on our specific needs offering different spirit types, including non alcoholic spirits. All of us had great drinks and an even better experience! Will absolutely go back.

The hubs and I had a great time enjoying a night cap and great live music at Crow & Quill! Full disclosure, I hate cover charges as I’m a (post-grad adult) local business lover who wouldn’t dream of not patronizing the business I’m visiting, but I do fully support live music so when reached the door to be greeted with the “hi, there’s a $10 cover per person for the band” I wasn’t deterred, but only mildly annoyed as my visit wasn’t based on a band (that I may or may not enjoy) but simply for the hopes of enjoying great craft cocktails and a speakeasy vibe as a tourist visiting a nice establishment. In my opinion: I should patronize the business and tip the band if I like them, and the business that hired them should pay them. No?

With that, I’d bookmarked Crow & Quill on my Asheville to-do list and walked over from our hotel, so we paid and proceeded to the bar. After grabbing our first round, we were fortunate to find great seats in the packed house. Thankfully, I enjoyed the “surprise band” and they added to our first experience (and our tab) at Crow & Quill. lol… Cheers!

A wonderful evening, the music was wonderful & the bartender was great. It was a crowded Saturday night so it was packed, but we really enjoyed our time here. Cool atmosphere, it felt like taking a step back in time.

I came into town from Brooklyn this weekend to visit my dear friend who lives just outside of Asheville (today is Sunday, March 8th) and after dinner we were looking for a place to have a nice after dinner cocktail. “I have an idea, there’s a place near here, but it’s really moody.” “This already sounds great,” I said. “And it’s kind of dark with a library literary prohibition vibe.” “I hope you’re not saying this like it’s a bad thing because you’ve literally described all my favorite things.” “Okay, I thought so,” she said, “it’s behind this door with the lanterns,” and we stepped over the threshold into the Crow & Quill.

The overpriced wannabes of NYC’s West Village wish they were as quaint and cool as The Crow & Quill. I ordered a Fall Fashioned and watched as the bartender full on lit a cigar – I think? – into a vase full of the smoke to infuse the drink. It was a delight to watch. Is it true that I had halved an edible with my friend not an hour earlier? It’s true, dear reader. Your take away from this should thus – if one eats an edible prior to your The Crow & Quill experience you will have a slightly more enhanced experience. That being said, a human can have imbibed in nothing but water and air and still find themselves entranced by the vibe and experience that is The Crow & Quill. If you feel at home when you enter, trust it. If you think, “Ew, it’s dark and moody and too terribly interesting, someone point me to a Margaritaville and I’ll be happy,” I’d suggest you close the door and walk away. Unless you’re an open minded Margaritaville goer who dabbles in tarot and likes to wonder aloud without judgement whether or not aliens exist.

Come to this bar. Enjoy their yummy drinks. Praise all the deities.

Transported to the 1920’s amidst Halloween

I visited the Crow and Quill in late October 2018 and the experience has stuck with me ever since. We curiously knocked on the door situated on a quiet street. When the door opened, it was as though a bubble of color engulfed us and sucked us inside, closing the door behind us and leaving the street devoid of sound. Inside I stood face to face with the one and only Mad Hatter.

The Crow and Quill hit me like a time machine and all five senses within moments of entering. Halloween is quite celebrated in Ashville and the crowd inside this speakeasy fit the scene perfectly. The smell of incense wafted through the air to our noses. The roaring sound of a New Orleans jazz band dazzled the ears of patrons. Delicately balanced from bar to ceiling were bottles of all shapes and sizes, while dancing among them were not bartenders, but mixologists. For the drink I received, not only tasted of perfection, it was properly garnished to delight my eyes. The décor carefully chosen, you’ll no doubt feel as though you’re reveling amongst friends during prohibition. If you’re in Ashville, the Crow and Quill should top your list, especially during Halloween!

Great drinks, vibes, & service! The cocktails are delicious. They are really unique and perfectly balanced. This is a good spot to end the night. My only issue is that it was a bit loud & crowded so it was hard to find a place to sit.

It’s a great place, with great drinks.
It’s the kind of bar you’d expect to find on a night out with friends; it’s “the bar.”

All the drinks we had were delicious. I have to say that not all the bar staff were friendly, but they didn’t treat us badly. The place is unique, and you won’t regret coming here for a drink. I had a strange drink, the Super Green, and wow, I saw it, I didn’t love it, and then I tried it and wow, the taste! A great drink, it surprised me.

I will definitely return to this place if I return to Asheville.
