Truly comforting Chinese food. The sweet yam congee was warm and smooth, and the side dishes—especially the eggplant and the pork with leeks—were flavorful and tasted like home. It was the perfect meal to relax and de-stress. Definitely my go-to spot for comfort food!

Asian comfort food! Loved the verities and also enjoyed that they offered unlimited sweet potato porridge for dine in customers. Friendly service!
Side note:
Lunch is a better deal ($16.95+ tax for 3 items combo, $21.95 for 4 items as of Jan, 2025), considering they offer the same food all day

The soul of Lu’s is their unlimited sweet potato porridge. It’s simple, slightly sweet, and incredibly soothing. There’s something deeply therapeutic about a steaming bowl of congee paired with a variety of small, flavorful side dishes.

Extremely disappointing experience and misleading pricing.
We were a group of 3 adults and 1 child, and we only ordered one pot of porridge and four side dishes. The total came out to a shocking $80 (including tip). The pricing on the menu was incredibly confusing and did not clearly reflect the final bill. For the amount of food served, this is a complete rip-off. Highly recommend avoiding this place unless you want a surprise at the end of your meal. Hope karma get them

Best food in town, must try the lunch specials, you will come back

the portion was really underwhelming—barely enough to be filling. For nearly the same price, you can get a freshly made, full plate of food at a proper restaurant. This felt more like a snack than a meal. Not great value for the money. This plate, 2 tofu, more than 10 dollars

How can you hate such a cute little restaurant like this place? You see elderly people here and the workers themselves remind you of family members. Of course, might be a little bit of a struggle if you don’t speak mandarin, but that’s fine, the workers are very smiley. I loved every dish here, just wish I could’ve tried more. Had to take to-go cause my friend and I ordered too much. Love the porridge, feels so homey.

Lu’s Garden is a beloved spot for authentic and hearty Taiwanese food in the San Gabriel Valley. Their signature pork chop rice and savory soy milk are absolute crowd-pleasers. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. It’s a busy, family-friendly, and slightly chaotic place that delivers classic comfort food.
