Cali Pizza Kitchen – Annapolis Mall

Waiter came in hot.
Claimed the bread was the best in Naptown.
I raised an eyebrow. He laughed, downgraded to best in the mall. Respect the honesty.

Pizza? Wild mushroom and cheese melt situation—airy crust, nice chew, herb hit on the back end.
Salad came in swinging, loaded and fork-fighting good.

Spot’s got mall energy, but the staff play it like it’s a downtown joint. Solid vibe for a weekday flex.
Would I come back? If I’m craving a no-nonsense pizza with servers that spar and smile—yeah, I’m pulling up.

November 25, 2025 @ 12- 1:00 pm. I WAS a loyal customer until today. I went to the Annapolis Maryland location. My server was Jessica and we sat at table 255. (Nearest to the kitchens entrance and exit). Upon waiting for our food, I watched a worker in the kitchen drop a spoon on the kitchen floor then proceeded to put it back with the other utensils. I was told the clean and dirty utensils were right next to each other (Per manager Dan) When our food which was 2 buttered pastas and BBQ pizza arrived to the table with spoons already placed, I asked for the spoons to be removed immediately and I requested for plastic silverware. As a customer and consumer this was beyond disgusting and disappointing. I was NOT offered a discount on my bill or an apology for what I witnessed. I will not be returning to this location in the future. Receipt below shows no discounts or compensation and still suggests gratuity to be paid.

I’m a fanatic when it comes to pizza, all things pizza! I’ve had a chance to cook in some of the best pizza ovens in the world. So it’s kind of a drug for me to be around the kitchen, and watch people make pizza and or cook.
Now to the review!
Don’t be fooled by the Photography! Looks can be deceiving! Now, don’t get me wrong. I love California Pizza Kitchen, when they are spot on. I never had a problem with their pasta dishes and most pizzas come out great! But this review will be on my most recent experience. This is Not a negative review. It’s Not a positive review. It’s in the middle.
We ordered their Thai Crunch salad, which was perfect and always is! My wife loves that one! We tried the NEW! Burnt Ends BBQ pizza, the NEW Braised Short-rib Ragu and THE west Coast Burger- The “WCB” the only burger on their menu. Made with Wagyu, Chuck and brisket meat. Which makes it for a very flavorful burger. But a burger joint they are not. With one burger on the menu you’d hope it would be made properly, right? When I told the waiter, what temperature to cook my burger at he came back and said, “we don’t do temperature.” It’s a company policy. But they were nice enough to cook my burger and keep it juicy! When the burger arrived, it looked good, But the only problem was the CHEESE was NOT melted at all! It was very cold and totally distracted from a nice moist juicy burger. Anybody knows when you grill or cook a burger with cheese, the cheese must be melted. The melting of the cheese on a burger takes it to the next level. That’s like raw onions on a burger, may give it a crunch, but when they’re cooked or roasted those onions sing! It’s a bummer because that would’ve been an awesome burger.
Trying a new dish on a menu is like trying out a new pair of shoes, needs to be broken in. The braised short rib Ragu was OK. And again, the pasta was not as warm as you would like it to be. Flavors were there! I just felt like something was missing.
Now let’s move onto the pizza, we were with friends so I let them order the pizza. Not my first choice, but we did try this NEW Burnt Ends BBQ Pizza! When we got it, the first thing my wife mentioned was it’s cold. And she’s a pretty hard critic when it comes to food and dining out. I guess that’s because of the way I cook at home lol! Sometimes she’ll say, “yours is better!” And I won’t deny that most home cooking is better than dining out. But you go out for the experience, the food, and friends. And sometimes that experience is not what you’d expect. It was a newbie night and we were trying out things we hadn’t gotten before. So, This was one of those times where things weren’t as good as they could’ve been…
I did let the waiter know about the burger and the pizza and I believe the manager did subtract one from the Bill, which was nice. But personally, I would’ve preferred a resend and got it how it was meant to be served. Maybe next time! and I hope they let the chef know the cheese was not melted, and if that was how it was meant to be… I probably won’t order it again.
Now, like I said, most times I’m very happy with the food I get here. We’ll see on my next visit! So if you’re in the Annapolis Mall and looking for some pizza, pasta, or something a bit different, try them out! Tell them Jack Julius sent you from Google reviews. Have a great day! See you in the next review! #pizzatime #californiapizzakitchen

The name is California PIZZA Kitchen.. but the pizza was terrible. Yesterday my family went to dinner and we ordered 3 pizzas; Thai one, Hawaiian, and Neapolitan. All 3 were terrible. You can tell by the pictures on these reviews, look how blonde the crusts are, and there was barely any cheese on them. The ham on the Hawaiian one was really fatty lunchmeat slices lol what a joke.

For the price, go to a good pizza shop. We won’t be going back and we’ll be sharing our experience with our friends and family.

I will be honest, it had been a little while since I had gotten a pizza from them. We have gotten other dishes. Especially the lettuce wraps which are unbelievably delicious. However I was very disappointed because I’m pretty sure they shrink the size of the pizza. They only have one size and I thought I was getting enough to feed four of us in the end it was enough to feed two of us. Once again I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure the size of the pizza got smaller compared to what we’ve had the last time we dined in and ordered a pizza

I had such a great time here. The servers are attentive and quick.
I had 2 small plates :
-Mexican Street Corn
– Crispy Artchoke Salad
In addition of an entree of Crispy Fish Tacos and it came with chips and salsa.
I got the Fresh Strawberry Mango Cooler and it was on point fresh and delicious.

I also got the Strawberry Shortcake as birthday desert and it was exactly as the picture. I’m quite impressed!! Wow!

And they have bread and oil to munch while waiting on your food.

Great server Katie, she deserves a raise for her service ❤️

I had a Great Time. I would give 6 stars ✨

It’s our first time to eat here. The pizza we ordered is topped with avocado, bacon, and lettuce. We also ordered Kung pao spaghetti which is surprisingly very good. I just wished that the portion is a little more than what we got since we paid $22 for the small portion of spaghetti. The pizza has 6 slices and it cost $20 and the size is about 11inches wide. The server who took our order is nice. The pizza for the kids is not so nice and a little dry and lack flavor. My child did not finish it. We will try other pizza when we come back but will not order the kid’s pizza for my child.

Staying in Annapolis for work and I ordered to take-out. Can’t review the atmosphere but it seemed really nice when I went in to pick up my order. I ordered a bbq chicken pizza add bacon and pineapples and it was delicious!!! They seem to have some unique style pizzas and food.
Definitely recommend trying if you are in the area.

In Westfield Mall (Annapolis). Easy access from Jennifer Road with plenty of parking. Stopped in after the bar across from them had unexpectantly closed. The restaurant was clean with plenty of tables, however, we sat at the bar. The bartender was ‘D’. Polite, friendly and attentive. They only had a few beers on tap but it must have been our lucky day because 2 of them were favorites (Troegs Perpetual and Dogfish 60 IPA). As a snack, we did get the Smashed Avocado Focaccia. Very nice and flavorful. There are two televisions in the bar area (one needed to be replaced, horrible screen). They did offer a military discount of 10%. Overall, nice experience.
