Decided to go to Mamie’s Kitchen for breakfast and was very disappointed. The line to order was long and the service was rushed. The food was ok–the sausage was a little spicy and the biscuits were barely warm. And I didn’t get the hashbrowns with cheese that I ordered. But the wait was too much to even worry about it…

There was no indoor seating at the time as they were a bit short staffed so it was drive-thru only. But the food is amazing. I asked to be guided to a restaurant that fits the local community and this is the first place that they pointed to. Proper soul food. Stewed tomatoes, homemade mash and gravy, green beans, homemade biscuit, and fried chicken breast. The sweet tea is on point.

Mamie’s in Covington, takeout edition: a masterclass in how to ruin a car ride home.
We didn’t dine in, we grabbed food to go; so there’s no “it cooled on the table” excuse. The “biscuits” were desiccated artifacts from the Museum of Dry Things. Picture a nine-day desert trek, then an overcooked Popeyes biscuit abandoned on a dashboard. Drier than both. The eggs were ice-cold, the cheese barely thinking about melting, and the whole bag felt like it took a detour through Antarctica. Not “to-go,” “to-chill.”
Grits? Passable, if you enjoy your breakfast salted like a February sidewalk. The “salmon” croquettes were H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E tasting. We didn’t get salmon; what we got was a mystery white fish that has never met a salmon in its life. My stomach has been churning like a 1920s butter churn ever since.
We spent $40+ to come home hungry. Four people, zero clean plates, everyone raiding the fridge. I remember the Lithonia days fondly; this isn’t that. If hype has a refund policy, I’d like to file a claim.
Not returning. Heat the food, learn restraint with salt, and if you put “salmon” on the label, let there be salmon!

Mamie’s Kitchen is absolutely wonderful. The home-cooked feel of every dish shines through, and the staff are so friendly. it feels like eating in someone’s welcoming kitchen. The flavors are strong, the presentation is thoughtful, and I always leave feeling satisfied and excited to come back.

Waited in line 20 minutes for disappointment. The nastiest breakfast ever! I order a chicken biscuit and hash-browns. The chicken patty smelled horrible like it was cooked in old oil, the “biscuit” was burnt and more of a bun texture, and the hash-browns had no seasoning and was dry. Ended up throwing the biscuit away; I was able to salvage the hash-browns with some salt, pepper and cheese at home. So disgusted! Never again.

These literal angels serve the absolute finest blue collar wet steak and cheese biscuit on any side of the Mississippi, even if I drop it on the floor it gets a 10 second rule bc this is advanced culinary art that deserves the extra 7 seconds. IYKYK

They have very reasonable prices. I got Fried boneless Chicken Breast, Mac & Cheese, and Collard Greens. The Chicken Breast was moist and good and the lady that made my plate and checked me out was really nice; I give her 5 stars.

Don’t go to mamies all they think about is the people that come every day they will have you sitting outside for 30 min just because they tryna satisfy the customers that they see everyday and I ordered at 6:15 why did I just get my plate at 6:40 am and all they had to cook fresh was eggs last time going that’s ridiculous
