There are about 10,000 Japanese restaurants in Perth these days but seriously Hanami in Mount Lawley is probably the best as far as their food, portion size and price goes. Sure the decore is getting a bit tired but hey, the food is masterclass and the Hanami crew are always attentive and friendly. It has and always will be our No1 go to for Japanese food.

Food is always great here however I’ve noticed a few times being here that when we go to pay, they charge extra for drinks that we never ordered. This is not the first time that this has happened. Please always check your receipts upon paying. To the staff, thanks for always making great food but please be honest as there will be people who pays and never checks their ordered list. Just saying… Thanks!!!

Service was ok, portions were huge. The food itself wasn’t anything special, but still very tasty. Recommend the watermelon soft shell crab in particular. Quite a popular restaurant, even at 5:30 on a Friday night.

The food was great. Been here a long time ago for my birthday and things have only just improved and it is now very busy but the service is very quick and efficient the food is fantastic and I’ll definitely come back again and make sure I book a table. They have some cool tables where you can look like your sitting in the traditional Japanese way at the front You need to book these ahead. Very hard to explain how you sit but it’s kind of like your legs are tucked inside under the table and the seat is built into the floor so it makes you look like you are sitting on the floor. Huge variety of drinks.

My hubby and I dined at HANAMI on a weeknight and we throughly enjoyed our meal/experience.
I booked this restaurant to celebrate my hubby’s birthday and he loved it. We were seated at one of the traditional tables (shoes off) and it was very cosy.
The restaurant was near full and you could still hold a conversation without having to yell across the table.
Atmosphere aside, the food was super fresh and delivered quickly. We shared edamame and spring rolls and each had our own main.
Value for money and worth visiting.

We were loving the vibe and the atmosphere but the food and menu were lacking. We ordered the yakitori chicken, prawn tempura, tori katsu set menu and the California roll (mistakenly). The tempura was lovely but the yakitori chicken wasn’t very good quality and Tori katsu was a little dry and lacking in flavour.
